I've got a line on a 5.0 from a 99 Mercury Mountaineer, and I was just curious what I could expect to sell the intakes and throttle body for. Anything else off of it worth selling (other than the long block of course)? I'm trying to figure out how much this thing will really set me back, it's selling for $577, and my 84 really needs a new engine.

On e-bay; a complete intake\throttlebody\injector\(injector)wiring harness setup goes for upwards of $350.... Good news fer you!;)

Yes.... I think Jeremy(V8Only) has mentioned the possibility of carefully finding a complete Exploder motor, selling of all of the accessories(coil packs, intake, etc) & basically you get a good GT40 headed long block for free....;)

How 'bout you help a fellow Mustanger out, and sell them to me for under 200? :P
The sad part is I really am serious. :( I haven't got that much dough for go fast parts, and I want a GT40 intake baaaad!

If I go this way, I may just sell it cheap here, I don't know yet. I'm pretty strapped for cash as well, and I need this car back on the road so I can get rid of another one. If I could sell the other first, I'd be in good shape, but right now I need it to drive to work.

That's how it is for you, eh? Well, good luck friend. :)
And I was joking about the cheap sell thing. Half-joking. :D

I just saw an explorer intake selling for $120 on ebay, not done yet. You can get a couple hundred, no probl for the intake. It's the heads that are hot, but you want those. I bought my engine for $700 and that was a good deal. I'd jump on that.

I'm just going to wait for the Fun Ford Weekend at Carislile Pennsylvania. I will pick up an intake and heads there for sure, maybe some headers too if I can find what I want. I've got about $400 saved up for the trip so far, I bet I can get a set of GT40 heads and intake for less than $200 there, if I can find the right seller! :)

I'm ditching the idea I think. I'm going to rebuild the stock short block and pick up a pair of E7's at a jy down the street for $23. Screw it, the Explorer will just use more time and money than I have.

I'm not going to be buying the engine. The ones I found were in the mileage range of the one in my car already (241k).
