Or am I going to need more pictures and info (VIN, DSO codes, etc.)? It's claimed to have been bought at auction from the SBI (State Bureau of Investigations). I haven't been to look at it yet because it's two hours from me.

This one belongs to a co-worker's father (the co-worker drove it until the AOD went out) and he wants $200 for it. It's been sitting for quite a few years but supposedly only the transmission was bad when it was parked. It allegedly has about 40K miles on the odo.

It's either going to be replacing my crashed LX (http://www.foureyedpride.com/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=4232) or donating parts to it.

Well the only thing that indicates it's a cop car in those photos is the 140 speedo.

If it's a 5.0 AOD, it's definitely a cop car since the 5.0 was only available on the LX and cop models, and that's definitely not an LX. But the cop package was available on 3.8 cars too.

Most of the cop cars I have seen have had more spartan interiors without the velour seats and door panels, but I'm sure it could have been ordered that way.

He said it's a 5.0L model. It just threw me off with the column shift and the woodgrain dash.

The 5.0 cop cars did indeed have column shift and woodgrain dash. Only the LXs got anything different. If the shift indicator has a circle-D for overdrive, then it has an AOD.

I think there are exceptions in several cases when it comes to interior options in special service vehicles for a county, different states, different forms of municiple fleets(fire dept chief for example), etc type service.

Please pardon my spelling errors & correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, you're exactly right, which is why I said I'm sure the department could have ordered the deluxe interior. But all of the cop LTDs I have personally seen have basic cloth seats and vinyl door panels.

Would the "Special Service" LTDs have a specific four-digit DSO code, like the SS Mustangs had?

Cool.... I have to keep an eye out for one of these "four eye four doors". i think it would make an excellent commuter\transportation for more than two type vehicle..... 8)

There's an LTD LX for sale in L.A. on eBay right now. It's in rough shape but it's salvageable.

Foxchassis... no idea if they have the code like the SSP Mustangss.

Looks like I'll be getting this one in a few weeks. That'll put my fleet at six cars. And only two single-car garages. :?
