I've got a 79 Capri with a 302, Swapped in a T5 a re-enforced Shaft and a Positraction Diff and a Lakewood rear setup.(Long day) Over time I've noticed my speedo getting more and more erratic. I checked out the speedo it'self, seems fine.. Replaced the cables, No change. Then I remembered a little plastic gear on the end of the cable.. Sure enough it's wallowed out.. is there an aftermarket supply of these? I've called a couple parts houses and came up empty. I don't wanna go the Salvage route as I don't wanna be doing this again in a few months..
any help would be great

This turned out to be REAL fun. Not only was the pencil gear on the end of the speedo cable chewed up, but the one on the tailshaft was also toast..
more parts and 5 hours labor later. I have a speedo.
As near as I can tell the cable bound up and caused the gears to grind against each other.

Yeah, the drive gears arent fun. I needed to do the one on my 82 F-250. I needed to buy a 1 5/16" socket to do the job as well as a 1/2" drive to 3/4" drive adapter so I could use the socket. The tools for the job were more than the gears. I'm just glad its not four wheel drive.
