I need suggestions here. I have come to a fork in the road. I recently got salvage doors off a 1984 mustang lx. The interior panels are shot. The carpet is greenish with mold, the vinyl panels are distorted a little and stained with some black mold stuff. I scrubbed with them somewhat and got about 80% of the mold off but they still don't look great. They have a small amout of sun fading too. They are the light blue color and are maunal window ones. Should I just chuck them or should I maybe try to sell them for like a dollar or something?

Take a picture and offer them for shipping.

Somebody could dye them black and they would probably look great again.

Black mold? If so, that stuff is VERY nasty!
Throw them away.

Whew, I read the article and it says that black mold crap can't grow on vinyl or plastic so I'm safe. I will maybe try to get pictures sometime and post them up. Heck, I'll give them away for free if someone wants them. I just feel guilty throwing them in the trash.

that mold is not as bad as everyone freaks out and makes it out to be. I had some in the back bathroom and under the sink from a leak, I just scraped it off, cleaned it up, and painted. no problems.

There is a difference between black mold and the DANGEROUS Black mold..

Don't remember what the difference was, but I think the Dangerous stuff grows in the walls, etc....

the dangerous stuff is called stachybotrus (sp?) and it's pretty nasty. Being in cali, I don't have a humidity or moisture problem, so really, mold here is caused, in my instance by a leaky drain under the sink, and no ventilation in the bathroom. (don't u just hate when there are no pooper fans in the bathroom!?) Just well ventilate, clean with Bleach, and eraticate the moisture problem and you won't have mold issues.
