I bought the instrument cluster bezel for my pace car. The correct type with the machined black finish. The passenger side dash bezel is missing and Im wondering if the 79 cobra had the same finish as the pace cars for this bezel. I bought it on ebay out of a 79 cobra I hope it is the same. If not I think its a pretty rare item. I paid 28 shipped.

Pace Cars and Cobras are indeed the same.

The passenger side does not have that "machined" finish. I had a 79 Cobra and it was a smooth panel on the passenger side.

The seller described it as a carbon fiber appearance. I hope he means the machined finish like the pace car. I guess we will see. It definately isnt a black finish only.

The Pace Car and Cobra are the same type bezel. Ford offered four machined turned types.

1. Air Conditioned car, two vents, non turbocharged bezel.

2. Air Conditioned car, two vents, turbocharged bezel.

3. Non Air, one vent

4. Non Air, one vent with the holes for the turbocharged bezel.

In 1982 Ford went with a Solid Black Bezel that went into the GT.

One more thing I forgot to say. The Pace Car has it's Self Adhesive Bezel that sticks on as the Cobra had it's own Self Adhesive Bezel.

The turbocharged bezel had pegs in it which sucks because you can't use a 4cyl Turbo Bezel in a 5.0 car because the peg holes would be a dead giveaway.

Then it had most definitely been changed, they both have the "machined" finish.

Great info, Since it was a cobra, ill have to pull the cobra off somehow. But it is going in a turbocharged pace car. Thank you all.
