Decoding a T5

Does anybody know where I can find some information about a T5 that is missing the tag on the tailhousing? I have a offer to buy a decent T5 from a friend of a friend. I'm not sure that the guy is totally telling the truth about it. So is there anyway to tell what it is and where it came from without the tag?

The OfficialFord Mustang 5.0Technical Reference &Performance Handbook has alot of information and numbers to figure out what you are looking at..You can get the book at some bookstores.On the left side of the case there are numbers that can Id it.Do you need to know if it is a 5.0 and not a 4cyl?Post some pictures or numbers and I may be able to help.
