i know where there is a nice bubble hatch on a capri in a junkyard. i happen to like the look of the bubble and was wondering if you need to use a capri bumper cover on a mustang to use the bubble hatch. will the mustang rear line up with it?

It depends on the rear end. I know that they will fit my 81 no problem. Or the one's that I have seen, pretty much the same light assembly.

If you have an 83-86 Mustang, the Capri parts from the 83-86 bubble hatch cars will bolt right on, however, if your car is a 79-82, be prepared to do some drilling for the bumper cover and taillights.

After rereading your post, I can say yes, you will have to use the Capri cover if you want it to match exactly.

I put a 83 Capri rear cover on my 84 Mustang Coupe years ago. The only thing that didn't line up were the taillight mounting studs. I had to drill some hole and make some spacers to have the lights line up right. Everything else fit perfectly, including the trunklid. I knew it would fit at the time since the ASC Capri convertible uses the Capri bumper and a Mustang trunk lid.

I will see if I can find a better photo....
