I thought I read a post a while back about someone keeping a record of all this stuff.

COOL!
Could we get a scan of it and a list of the options on your car? We really need the body tag and door tag too.
Getting all three items in a group is very very nice in locking down what codes mean what, etc.

The 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry could use the info too!

That's cool too. I need to stress that we need ALL three pieces..the door tag...body tag...and build sheet to really help put things together. A list of know options on the car is required too.

Yep...that's what I mean. It can be removed but most of the time you can get a picture without removing it.

I also have my buildsheet. You can see where the car was ordered with the stripe delete and the two tone paint.

Post pictures of everything in the albums in the "Buildsheet" Section ;)
Where do you usually find the build sheet on a Mustang? I know the build sheet on my 78 Fairmont was under/in the drivers bucket seat.... Is it the same for the Mustang?

it'll be different. I found an 83 GT at ecology with the build sheet stuck to the passenger side 1/4 trim panel.
Our 86 GT parts car had the build sheet under the carpet.
my 86 GT had the build sheet under the rear seat.
my brothers 86 GT I believe had the buildsheet where the spare tire is. You basically gotta rip your interior apart to find it.
Does anyone understand how to read these build sheets?
Hmm... that's what I thought.
On my 78 I found the build sheep under the drivers bucket... and anonther sheet (I forgot what it was) under the spare tire.
DeanT had said he found a small paper hidden somewhere around my futura's front end saying something about a defective part... I don't remember what it was... but I think he'll be giving that paper to me when I go to pick up my Turbines and C4 trani on sunday.

I found my 86's under the passenger side carpet when I put the driveshaft loop in. It's still sitting here in front of me, I've been meaning to send it in to mustanggt.org.

Passenger side carpet, rotted to almost nothing
I could even read the title of the column where the springs go, but not what was put there
:(
The Accessory Reserve Load Spring mystery continues...

Ummm...I think it was negusm, he read my door tag and that's what the suspension #s came out to be
No-ones sure what it means
I saw some document or memo that mentions ARL as something to do with fuel, but it didn't really answer what's up
EDIT: DoorTag info
TR: OO = Front Springs
BB = Rear Springs

I have the same little red book that Mike (negusm) and I believe Skye has. It's called the complete '79-'93 Mustang data decoder book by Jerry Heasley. It's out of print but it does pop up on eBay on occassion. it usually sells for about $5.
The spring codes are listed in this book as part numbers. For the '86 model year:
O (front) = E5SZ-5310-M
B (rear) = E5SZ-5560-B

Also in that little red book, they decode those numbers above the DSO as simply the "Accessory Reserve Load".
I searched on the web and found this in a Ford bulletin:
The completed weight of any vehicle must not exceed the rated GAWRs or GVWR with full fuel and allowance for passengers and rated cargo. The spacers required between the frame and Second Unit Body must be included in the center of gravity and Second Unit Body weight. The accessory reserve capacity (ARC), or accessory reserve load, of new Ford vehicles must not be exceeded for either the front axle, rear axle and/or total vehicle with the installation of additional gaseous fuelsystem components.
I have no idea exactly what the numbers decode to or if they truly are for the "accessory reserve load".

I don't see that in my copy of the book. What page(s) is it on?

Ah, that's the one
Phrased kinda oddly isn't it?
"The accessory reserve capacity (ARC), or accessory reserve load, of new Ford vehicles must not be exceeded.."
"...with the installation of additional gaseous fuelsystem components."

I don't see that in my copy of the book. What page(s) is it on?
On the page detailing the breakdown of a door tag. The one with all the arrows pointing to codes on a sample tag with numbers and then explanations. (like the first page or so in the book)

BZZZZZZT! I WAS WRONG!
It is found in the book: Master Decoder Guide
Link: (the blue/black/grey one) http://secure.50resto.com/product1.cfm?CustomerID=2955032&ACBSessionID=pETLza4fTSuGG42tluIv&SID=1&Product_ID=2291
On the first page, it shows those two numbers above the DSO as #16=Accessory Reserve Load

Would you be surprised if I said I had that book too?
Too bad the other half of that set - the 321-page Late Model Mustang 1980-1995 Illustrated Parts Catalog - isn't available anymore. I bought both from PRO Products, Inc. about 10 years ago.

Really?...I just bought that like 2 years ago....or less. It is basically a printout of pictures off the parts computer system at the dealer's. I have them print me pictures all the time when I go in looking for parts and they are always in that book somewhere.

While I was doing some reading through some of my Ford books....
In the 1985 and 1986 (and probably ALL other years too) Ford Car Specifications Book(s), it states clearly that those codes above the DSO are the "Accessoru Reserve Load".
This is printed by Ford for the "Ford Parts and Srvice Division Training and Publications Department".
Looking through the book, I saw no mention of what the numbers mean at all.
