Question for you all. After looking at 1hot86gt's Mustang....

I was curious about how many 85/86 Mustangs had come with the charcoal paint unter the belt line and on the vents. I know theres a GMP 1:18th scale modle with a similar paint sceem to 1hot86gt's stang.... Which I think is one great looking car.

Mine is factory black... but with the belt, headlight buckets, and taillight trim being charcaol... where everything else is flat black... inlcuding the hood decal.

Can somebody explain the package differences to me please?

Thnaks

All the trim for 85-86 should be dark charcoal....except the door handles and the antenna which was still black.

Scroll down the the Mustang Fact book and read it through. It describes all the different color schemes.

Just to clarify, the hood sticker should be dark charcoal right?
I found nothing in that lit. (nice collection btw) that says the stripe should be flat black
Mine's faded to a light grey now so it could've been just about anything

Yes, dark charcoal is correct for those years....as far as I know. Some people like the black trim better and will paint it black...but dark charcoal is correct.

I was doing a better job at polishing the GT on Sunday and found tha tit was repainted... the "Mustang GT" decal on the hatch was not put back in the same location and whom ever painted the car didn't clean up the old adhisive well enough.

Anyways... it seems they pained the side window/door trim flat black but left the front and back window trim charcoal gray. 8O Idiots.

So, I like the flat black better and may just have the anything that was painted charcoal gray painted to flat black.... which I like better.

If you are still undecided or want to try dark charcoal before you go black, you can get very very close to the correct dark charcoal color in a spray can.

SEM dark charcoal #39153
Marhyde 3821
Duplicolor dark charcoal bumper paint #FB-109

Check out this thread with a car painted with the duplicolor paint....

I think it looks nice.
