Here's two,

Deathrace 2000
and
Highway to Hell

Both B movies but pretty good, Highway to Hell having an awesome gasser 41 willys, And Deathrace 2000 being more like a game where points are awarded for hitting people :D. Theres another movie with a red lemans two seater type car that has father and son in it, they get chased by a jet a some point cant remember that one though. cant forget vanishing point.

I second teh Blues Brothers. They beat teh hell outta that old Dodge. "It's got a cop 440, cop brakes, cop suspension..."

Also, what about those Mel Gibson flicks, Mad Max and The Road Warrior? We can't forget them now, can we?

I was trying to remember the name of that movie last night. That's the one with Peter Fonda trying to get home in a 'Cuda right?

How about "Canonball Run" with David Carradine? It had some cool racing and police chases in it too.

It's not Peter Fonda, I think it's Barry Newman in the lead role. He's driving a white Challenger R/T and trying to make it across country in a certain amount of time

There used to be a movie named "The Gumball Rally". That was a good movie. Don't remember who was in it. What I do remember is the Cobra and the Ferrari speedster just cruising down the highway towards the end of the movie doing the legal speed limit and the cops couldn't do anything. :D

I'm pretty sure it was "Cannonball". Then came Cannonball run.

I don't know how I confused Barry Newman with Fonda. I looked up Fonda's filmography to see if he did a similar movie, but couldn't find anything.

BTW, the Carradine movie was titled "Cannonball" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074279/

How about a truck car thriller? Ever heard of Duel? It's a 1971 Steven
Spielberg originally made for TV movie. I've seen it available on DVD.
Give it a shot!

The best part is knowing the cars were the real deal, no kit cars were used. Look at how beat up the front of the Cobra was at the end. 8O The guy on the motorcycle was great too.

"it's a handsome design".

"wish it ran."

Gumball rally is an excellent movie. Best scene is when the exit the viaduct and turn right over the bridge... and the Cobra just walks the Ferrari.

Another honerable mention: Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry.

Anyone ever seen Black Dog? Has Randy Travis in it, driving a truck up from Georgia to New England.

I'm going to go out an a limb here and say it was not Bullit, or Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, Gumball Rally, Cannonball (with David Carradine), etc. etc.

Back in 1974, a movie called the Seven Up's was made, with Roy Schieder (Jaws & Blue Thunder Fame).

It was a Cops vs. N.J. mob movie. The Chase is between the bad guys in a 1974 Pontiac Gran Ville and a 1974 Pontiac Ventura. It ends with Schieder's Venture going under the backside of a parked 40' truck trailer at about 75 MPH. Very, very under-rated car chase flick.

I recently saw the French Connection, that one was a car chasing the subway, but it was very well done.

Also saw Dual a couple of weeks ago. Made in 1971, it still holds up today. Still kind of creeps me out. This was Steven Spielberg's first movie.

Kowalski will forever be my movie/mopar hero. I'd give my left nut for a '70 Challenger and a pistol grip with green Colorado plates.

MFP vs. the Toecutter ranks up there also. "Can you hear me Bronze? I'm a fuel injected suicide machine"

VP is an incredible movie. Left me with that same "punched in the gut" feeling that I got after watching Easy Rider. It's a little more blatant with it's message, though.

The Vanishing Point remake from 1997 ruined the meaning of the film, IMHO.

Yes evil86lx, He did keep it in a huge ass barn. i just watched it again last week for kicks and it has definately lost some of its appeal from when i was a kid. its more funny to see now.
