I drive about 50 miles a day.
In the morning for the, last week, I have had to fill the radiator
with a quart or so of water/coolant.
I recently changed to a free flowing exhaust.
I have been driving the wheels off the car. 5000 rpm shifts.
The car runs like a bat out of hell.
But it has 165,000 miles.
Uses a quart of oil per oil change. That seems normal.
I cannot find any leaking of the water/coolant.

Was wondering if my new found rpm range may have caused one of
the intake gaskets to lose its seal?

83 gt
no ac
ceramic shorties
off road h-pipe
cat back
no smog stuff
factory carb and intake

Thanks in advance.

Washington, huh?
Thats not too far from me. (Oregon)

Yeah I hope it is the intake and not the head gasket.
Not showing any real signs of head gasket faliure yet.
Oil looks good.
a pinhole in one of the hoses would be nice too!
I got them in the car in case one decides to blow!

Hey ns50 you got any pics of your ride?
Cardomain?

Get it up to operating temps, run it down a highway at normal speeds for a couple minutes\miles(;)), pull over & shut her off, pop the hood, Look & listen carefully.
That's how I found my little pin hole leak in the heater hose at the firewall. The coolant was shooting down onto the header\top of the the h-pipe & burning off before hitting the ground. You could not tell since it wasn't spraying onto the intake or firewall...... Best of luck & may it be a $1.99 repair!!!!

You might want to try and get a hold of a pressure gauge that you mount to the rad tank neck. You pressurize the system and see if it holds. If you suspect a head gasket or want to rule it out use a leakdown tester and pressurize each cylinder at TDC on at a time. If a cylinder is loosing pressure you may want to look in the rad for any sign of bubbling.
