Couldn't get a good 3/4 shot because my dad parked weird and there's a fence on the other side

After a little research, it turns out it's a 255 horse, 355ft/lb 69 :D

That's with the 350cfm autolite, image what the 500cfm holley will do :D :D :D

I guess that 250hp and 310+ft/lbs I was shooting for is gonna be a lot easier to achieve

Wouldnt a 500cfm be a bit small for a 351W??? Why not cam it, get a nice intake and headers and step up to a 650dp?

I think they're talking with 2-bbl carbs here. Not 4-bbl. That would also explain the sub-300 HP numbers ('69 was a very potent year for Ford). Toss a 4-bbl manifold and carb on there, and BAM! Mucho power.

Well, it's getting headers anyway, but the 4bbl and intake may come later. This just saved me a LOT of money that I can put towards the drivetrain, since I'll need a pretty beefy T5 to handle the torque. Plus, the 500cfm will give me a bit more throttle response and driveability (gas mileage especially).

Is that a '73 Gran Torino or Ranchero? My first car was a '73 Gran Torino Hardtop. If it's a Torino, is it a hardtop or a sportsroof?

My uncle got a wild hair up his ass and decided to buy a new project car (He had a really sweet 50s chevy truck with a 383 and some other goodies before he went to jail), and bought the ranchero for $600 with a freshly rebuilt engine. The engine has about 1,000 miles on it from the guy breaking it in. He was going to chop it, drop it, and do a custom interior. Then his ranger's slave cylinder managed to go up in flames 42 miles out of town, so he got a ride back into to town and bought a Harley. My dad gave him $600 for the car as a gift to me, so I'm taking the engine and the wheels, then selling the roller.

Great score!

Now if you are taking the wheels, it technically won't be a "roller"

Not the engine in the pic's, right? That engine in the pic's is too damb dirty to "only" have 1,000 miles on it. Not to mention the fact that it does not show any of the usual signs of engine detailing, like fresh block paint for instance, that a normal engine "full rebuild" would show.....

By the way; those valve cover's look like an old set of Wieand<S\P?> cast aluminum pieces fron the 70's. A 500cfm Holley can work well for a 351W if it's pretty mild & you do not intend to run it up over 4500-4750rpm.... it will run out of breath above that rpm. Up to that rpm though; it'll stay right with or equal an 1850 model 600cfm four barrel Holley.....

The 1969 model 2bbl 351 W made 250hp and the factory 4bbl 351W in 1969 made 290hp...The only change being the switch to a 4bbl intake and carb... It wouldn't take much to make that engine into a real runner...

It's been sitting for a while. The guy drove it to break it in, and it's been sitting since.

I understand & I do not want to "shoot you down" in regards to what will be a good motor. I just want to make sure you think about this & consider a tear down inspection beforehand. That motor is covered heavily in oil. Sitting for years does not cover an engine in oil. Covered in dirt would make sense...... Just an FYI....

I know that, I plan on pulling the heads, a little dust was sitting on the carb, so Iwant to make sure everything is clean inside.

Well, there is a RWD conversion kit for the quad 4 engine, and you could fit a smallblock in there
