Hello all,
My name is Matt, I live in Vermont and I'm new to the place. I regestered today and have already recived some realy great information form the community.
My wife and I bought a 81 mustang this summer,. We had seen it around for a few years and I told her given the chance its hers. (Its purple, it's t-top, it turns her crank) SOOooo... This summer I had to pony up and now its hers.
Long story short it turns out it pulled a best time of 13.3 @ 104 - which is the stroy according to the previous owners brother. heh
The thing is fast though, verry fast. anywho its been raced and now is in major need of tlc, LOTS of tlc. so with out further ado - the car:
vins as 81 2.3l with t-tops
1965? 289 block
351 heads - could be corperate sb version not sure - yet

Looking at the various threds on this site, I came accross a guy whos moving and offing his stuff, followed a link to 50 resto auction site and what do ya know....

It now appears the bumper cover on our 81 is from a GT. I love this place.

accel coil (thing is HUGE)
8mil wires
holly 650 dp (squirts drilled, choke gutted)
cam - unknown idles like crap, combined witht he carb "job" I'm sure
hack job clutch pedle asembley- removed
engine bay wiring hack job - in prgress of revamp
8.8 rear with 4.11's
5 lugs
disk all 4, need info on proper master/booster - unknown atm

centerforce stage 2
garbage radiator - suprised it accualy cooled the engine at all.
subframe connectors - booger welds
blown mounts all around
dual glass packs with crossover
I belive the rear arms are aftermarket
Lowering springs - unknown mabey eiboch - mabey
glass hatch
and of corse the cheep parts store 8 ball knob - sodered and taped to the stick. (hack job)
INT:
Dash gutted - was crap. total hack job again (yes pad is garbage sorry). replacing with 1990 dash I pulled my self. with center and wheel colum and I have the full harnes from the 1990 - not looking forward to this job.
tail lights are from a capree - may keep - may patch and recut sheet for the 1990 lights.
Floors are stress cracked.
some rust - after all this is the north east and I did see it driven once or twice in the winter
I will do this right if it take 20 years. I accualy fell for the car after I drove it a few - though truth be known the bump steer cauight me off guard a bit. gettign the kit for that after all else.
Going to pull the 289 (mostly to refresh it and make sure it realy is a 289 ) looking at heads - you know the drill. Trany could use it as well.
This car was done correctly at one time, but has been beat to hell and back.
