I am looking at buying a 85 convertable GT roller. The deal is that the previous owner put a 87 front clip on it.
I am wanting to restore it back to an 85. My question is, will the 85 front fit on the 87 fenders or will I need 85 fenders?? I know the black trim strips are different.
Thanks,
Steve

When you say the inside of the bumper I assume you mean the Bumper support, honeycomb type thing.
Could I just use an 85ish bumper support?
Thanks,
Steve

The fenders are the same. Just change the bumper support and cover, and the fender moldings, and you'll be good to go.

There's one thing you guys are forgetting... The holes on the 87+ bumpers wer drilled dlightly different you may have to drill an extra hole or two. I took the 87+ nose off my 86 LX only to find I needed an extra hole or 2... Which I still haven't drilled out yet, also, if the guy coverted 87+ there will be a different harness for the headlights/or an old spliced up harness that you will have to change to work for th 79 - 86 lights.. Here's mine.. Not completly bolted together yet cause I haven't changed the light harness... FYI the gap is alot bigger than what you can see, and the gap on the other side is worse... But despite all this, you should still convert back :)

Those are the holes I was talking about having to drill in my post. You are 200% correct.

And don't forget about the header panel for the lights as well as the inner bumper support.
