well another question about my 85

my key does not work anymore what can be the problem with this. but i can still turn the key up the lightes still come on like they used to but it will not start. does not do anything. i have changed the voltage regulator and the solenoid. Please help i am tired of starting it witha wrench crossing over the solenoid.

Two things I can think of.

a) Ignition switch on column has gone bad. Not the lock cylinder, the actual electrical switch inside the column.

b) Neutral saftey switch broken or out of adjustment and/or clutch switch on manual transmission equipped vehicles.

yep probably ur transmission saftey switch came unplugged or has a bad connection.. just look under ur car and see if a plug is hangin down if so just plug it back into the other plug.. :D and if it is plugged in then unplug it and plug it back in couple times, they sometimes get dirty.. works for me :D

u have a 5 speed transmission and i dont think anything plugs into it

hey thanks for all of the advice i bought a new solenoid and it did the trick. but i had a new one on it but i had been using a wrench to start it before we fixed the prob the first time with the wiring.so maby crossing it over messed it up dont know but it works now.
