Hey guys i have a 1985 mustang gt, and have a problem and need help. i know it sucks changing a heater core on these cars but can anyone tell me how to get the heater core out and another one in.

Hey, good luck with it! It's not fun. I had replaced mine when I had the dash out for another reason. And it looks like you are new here, welcome. :)

hey thanks for the link it looks like it will help alot ive been lookin for things on here how to do it but i havent been able to find a site. thanks. ill be puttin pics of the stang on here sometime just have to get around to it.

Im doing mine next weekend and putting together a guide that is actually usefull. ill start a thread for it so people can put in requests on what details about it they want.

To help prevent this problem in the future you could install some coolant flow restrictors in the heater hose. This will in effect cut down on the water pressure the core sees. too much internal water pressure will split one wide open. The fox police cars had them as OEM. Sorry don't have a part number handy.

I lucked out and was able to backflush mine and get good heat :twisted:

If its a 25 year old heater core, I hope you don't expect it to go too far before it gives out for good.
