Starting to amass parts for my brake upgrade. Here is a list and the order that I intend on doing it. Just checking to see if there is anything I am forgetting or have out of order.
First 87-88 TC rear end:
Using stock axles and drums for now, anything else needed to complete this than the rear itself and my old axles/drums?
Actual brake upgrade:
87-88 TC axles with stock calipers and rotors OR stock mustang axles with northcar relocation brackets, which is better or easier?
New FMS ebrake cables (2) 2809 and (1) 2810
aftermarket proportioning valve
solid end cap FMS M2450-A
85 towncar M/C
87-93 spindles/hubs
87-93 struts
87-93 front rotors
73MM SVO front calipers
Metal slide pin bushings
Of course pads and good fluid.
Is there anything I missed?
Thanks,
Brent

Easier, complete TC rear by far. You may not want the extra width though. Try it and decide whether you want or need to shell out the extra money for relocation brackets.
aftermarket proportioning valve
solid end cap FMS M2450-AI got the Summit proportioning valve when I did mine. It is made by Wilwood and costs a lot less. It even has the Wilwood instructions.
85 towncar M/C
87-93 spindles/hubs
87-93 struts
87-93 front rotors
73MM SVO front calipers
Metal slide pin bushings
Your list looks pretty complete to me.

Get a good set of brake line's. (87-93) Summit has them for 70 buck's.
This would be a good time to update shock's/strut's control arm's etc etc..
Just dont let the snowball effect get ya to badly.. :D

I was going to mention brake lines too. I need to get some stainless lines myself. I guess I ought to shop Summit soon.

Thanks for all the help. I am planning on doing brake lines also, now. Yeah the snowball has already started rolling! I am just trying not to get to caught up by it now.
Thanks,
Brent

Be sure and get the Master cylinder from a 85 or 86 SVO mustang. Measure the daimeter of the bore in the one you have.
SVO ie 1 1/8 in, if yours is smaller, then I recommend the SVO one.
My system would not work until I got this Master Cyl. It is only $25 from NAPA.

You do know that the '87-'88 Turbocoupe spindles are the same as the '87-'93 V8 Mustang spindles, right? They can also be found on Lincoln LSCs but the Lincoln rotors are 5 lug. 73mm calipers though, if I remember right.

Are the rotors off the turbocoupe the same, or does the abs make a difference?

The Turbocoupe had an no ABS option I believe.

I think the '87-'88 turbocoupes did have at least optional ABS. I would swear the '88 I pulled a few parts off of a year or so back had ABS. I suppose I could be wrong, but either way that exciter ring shouldn't cause any problems that I can think of.
:edit: did a google search, I was right they came with ABS and the exciter ring doesn't matter.

Yeah the Turbo Coupe front rotors will work just fine. The ABS exciter ring doesn't get in the way.
BTW about the master cylinder, some folks say go with the 85 Town Car 1" bore unit, while others say go with the Mark VII/SVO 1-1/8" unit.
I've used the SVO master cylinder in 2 cars and in both cars the pedal was harder than I liked. I emailed Matt from the svo73mm page and he said that on Fox cars with the smaller brake boosters, the 1" Town Car unit usually works best and produces a better pedal feel. As soon as my LTD is back running I'm going to try the 1" master to see if it makes a difference.

Actually, on that town car master
I had the guys at the U-pullit run the master for me. '85 towncar interchanges with
Crown Victoria '83-'87
Grand Marquis '79-'87
Lincoln Mark Series '80-'83
Lincoln Town Car '80-'89
LTD '79-'82

In 80-83, the Lincoln Mark VI was just a shorter version of the full size Panther platform Town Car. Like so:

....which is why it has the same MC as the Town Car
In 84-92, the Mark VII was Fox chassis based and has the 1-1/8" master cylinder.
