On my front suspension when I brake hard I hear and feel a "clunk" noise. Not all the time but most of the time. Had it looked at by the deeler years ago and couldn't find anything. I have wrenched and pryed and checked everthing I could think of and found nothing. Been living with it for awhile but it bothers me. :?: Any ideas?

Thanks cat man,
I had the A-arm bushings replaced with urethane ones sometime ago.
So now I think I will replace the ball joints too.
My struts are Koni's and one has leaked some oil so they will get rebuilt over the winter.
GET-R-DONE..

First of all, Welcome.

Where did you get your Konis? Did they come on Saleens? I thought they did not fit on 86's. Do you have stock rotors?

Thanks,
J.

The Saleens had Koni's...and you can get Koni's for the pre 87 car's from Summit. They cost like 40 buck's more than 87-93 one's.

Make sure your caliper brackets are TIGHT. I had this problem once and finally traced it down to that. While you have your car jacked up and torque wrench handy, you may as well check all the suspension bolts, and the K-member bolts too.

Thanks again guys,
Yes, I do have the wonderfull factory 10" rotors (YUK!) and they are ok untill I do some open track events especially at BIR. Then braking at these speeds becomes most important to my survival.
Gotta bite the bullet and upgrade.
I went through the a-arm bolts and K-member this past summer and they were fine.
As soon as I get over this fabulous sinus infection, I will try to get back in the garage and do somemore investigating.
