I was wondering if I was the only one to got to jail for speeding? I got popped doing 130 in a 60 on my way to the track with my old vert. The trooper didn't tow me then and saved me from other tickets because he liked my car. When I went to court the sit in lady judge from another city gave me a 300.00 fine and 3 days in jail for the ticket!! I did only get 2 points for it so that was cool but jail for speeding sucked! This is a coll story for peaple to laugh at me.

   Not me, but my brother lost his license for 1 year for too many speeding tickets (4 in one year) and also went to jail for a few hours. When it was reinstated, he was placed on "probation," meaning that he had to go one year without a ticket and could only drive between 7:00 am-7:00 pm.
If he did that for one year, it would be reinstated full time. However, if he got one ticket, he would lose his license for an additional 4 years.
Guess what? HE GOT THE TICKET! From there, he had to move into his Boss' house for 2 years so that he could have a ride to work. After those two years, he moved into a house that he rented with two other friends of his that was fairly close to his work. His mode of transportation at that time was a moped!
The story gets better, but I'll save you all the details. ;)
So did he get busted speeding on the moped????
I've only had 1 speeding ticket (in the U.S.) in 15 years of driving. Sad part is, it was in one of the slowest vehicles I've owned, a 1985 GMC S-15 Jimmy 4x4 with the 2.8L and 700R4. 0-60 in 15 minutes. Not much of an exageration. I got popped doing 71 in a 55. The speedo never worked, so I just went by feel, and how quickly the lines went by on the road. I just came over a hill, and had been standing on it to maintain speed up the hill. As I crested the hill a county mounty was coming from the other way. He was cool, and knocked it down to 61 in a 55, with a $28 fine, that I paid that day. It never showed up on my driving record.

Nope, not on the Moped. But, he applied for early reinstatement to get his license back at the three year mark. The registry of motor vehicles warned him that if he got another ticket, he would lose it for an additional 4 years. It was reinstated from 7:00 am-7:00 pm once again.
Less than 2 months later, he got pulled over on the way home from a movie at 11:00 pm. He got another ticket and a court date. They pulled his license for the four years.
Well, here's where it gets good. He refused to let this hinder him in his ability to get to work. So, he drove daily, WITHOUT A LICENSE! One particular Friday, he left work at noontime to go cash his paycheck. On the way to the bank, there was a state trooper parked on the side of the road, checking inspection stickers on the windshields of the passing cars. My brother had headlight covers on his FORD Ranger and got pulled over (direct violation of Massachusetts laws.)
OFFICER: License and registration please.
MY BRO: Here's my registration. As for my license, I don't have it, you do.
OFFICER: I do? No I don't!
MY BRO: You don't understand, the registry has it.
OFFICER: Step out of the car son, you're in a heap of trouble!

Off to jail he went. In the meantime, his boss was back at work waiting for him to return. It took a customer of their's to come in and break the news. He went and bailed him out.
The rest is moped history. It's now 10 years later and he has learned from his youthful mischief. He's got a clean driving record and can drive at all hours of the day, with no restrictions-LEGALLY!
I can still remember that Moped rider though, with the biiiiig helmet! In reality, it wasn't funny at the time. Looking back on it though, we both laugh everytime it's brought up.

Not every state requires a d. l. to operate a moped/scooter if it is under 50 c.c.'s

99 in a 55 zone. this was back in 1986, I was doing way over that but I don't think the radar gun went any higher. Spent only a couple of hours in jail. It sucked!!

Not yet, but I think I can end up in jail for arguing with the judge over my recent speeding ticket.
