I have the opportunity to pick up a set of satin black ponies w/ tires for like $200 locally. I cant stand meh 10 hole rims. Anyone got a picture of a set on a 86ish GT? Specifically a grey one. Thanks.

My brother painted a set for a friend, they went on his dark blue 88 LX and looked DAMNED good.

I offered him $150 for em...Figure its worth it at that price, even if I am doing a 5 lug conversion soon...lol.

Goddamn mustang parts are worse than crack.

Dunno, I was thinking more along the lines of the 03-04 GT bullet rims for my hatch. The 96-97 cobras look phat on a coupe, for sure.

no.

go look at pics of my SVO

Oh, I know, I remember them. But it was an SVO, nottah geetee.

Perhaps. Once I get the funds together for the rest of my 5 lug swap those cobras might be more viable. I think the OEM bullet rims are $190ish a pop.

The differences from the side are small enough that they would look VERY similar.

I got all 4 of my wheels for $100

Aaron,

I think those pony's look great. He needs money but I know he turned your 150 offer down. If you have extra cash it might be worth it.

The 5 lug conversion would open up many other options for rims and tires but does it really buy you anything else...

Better brakes?
Larger Brakes?

If that is the case dosent the 89 GT have larger brakes than the 86GT? Just asking cus I need to know myself.

Yes, they upgraded the GT/5.0L LX brakes in '87.

personally i dont think the black ponies look good on a four eyed stang, if you got them on already fine, no problem the price sounded great just not my kind of style, i think someone said that they were getting the cobra style i forget the years, they wouldnt look to bad, good luck though.

The 89's are a bit larger and the calipers are a bit better as well. The 5 lug conversion I am going to be doing will include the front brakes off a 95' GT, even larger and better disc/caliper's and the rears off a 98 GT ( better stopping power ) So besides just allowing the use of 5 lug rims the car will stop a helluvah lot better than it does now. Fox body brakes are TOTALLY inadequit for even a stock mustang when driven hard.

I tend to disagree. I have '89 front brakes with SVO 73mm calipers on my 3000 lb '86 and it stops great IMO. I don't even have high $$ pads and it's more than adequate. Fox brakes can be very good with a small amount of work

Thats why I said "driven hard". IE: A few 100mph+ stops and they are gunna be darn near useless until they cool a bit. Perhaps the upgrade I will be doing will be the same, I dont know yet. For everyday driving and the occasional emergency stop im sure your brakes work fine.

OK, I understand. When do you do more than one stop from 100+ though? Anything but an open track car shouldn't need better. I see what you're saying though

More rotor surface area + larger calipers = shorter stopping times. Whats stops good enough for you might get me killed :D
