I'm probably gonna get bashed by a few people here. For a formal intruduction, my name is Jose, I live in ontario, California. Owner of four 4 eyed cars..... Been here on FEP for a couple years now. I was an avid poster for a while, felt the comfort level and help here was undeniably a great place to be. FEP made my car become a realization that I only dreamt of. I look at Mike Croke's Capri, and say DAMN!!! Thats a bad ass car, my Capri will look like that one day. I have had help gettin parts from other FEP members, gettin tech help, makin friends on the board, and off the board. I still visit everyday, but seems like the more amounts of people that come in, someone brings some sort of negativity with them. People flaming on people, arguing about who car has what and prove it, this car can't be parted. I don't know who pisses in whos Cheerios and who stole who GI Joe, but some of the stuff thats been goin on lately is just so.... How can I say it.... Imature? Stupid? I mean why? Were here to help out eachother right? I live close to v8only, who is Jeremy. I have had the pleasure of doing buisiness with Jeremy. jeremy and Corey are by no means in the chop shop business, their in it to make an honest buck. Seaphus-misawa got bashed pretty bad a couple days ago, for one I wouldn't talk to the man like that, not to someone whos serving this country to protect my family and everyone elses family life. But we all have different points of views. I just don't like the tension growing on this board. I don't want it to get out of hand like other boards I have visited before. That's why I stick to FEP, I feel at home. I haven't posted updates on my cars, posted ideas. Why? Exactly, why? I've seen people get told EWWW!!!, or WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT????? Makes me feel the only time I can post is when the car is comeplete, ready with a dyno sheet, time slip, and receipts on what I have done, what I got, and what it's worth. Where is the fun in that? But it all comes down to our points of views, we all got different ones. Coupster and his wheels he was gettin, just let the man get his wheels. v8only and his cowl hood, let him have his cowl hood. seaphus, let him rock his car on in japan..... And to all the other people who have felt uncomfortable that come across this, don't be ashamed, let it roll how you want. I've had a couple negative remarks made towards me, on some wheels as well. Everyones boat floats differently. It just seems that some of the guys with the bigger badder faster boats pick on the guys who are buildon their boats. If we got something to say to someone with a negative feel, PM it and resolve it off the board. It all starts somewhere, and ultimately ends somewhere as well. I don't think we are all here to do what this site is upholding. I know I'm here to help the preservation of 79-86 fox bodies. Anyway I can, if I got and extra part, I'll let it be on it's way. If I know how to fix a techy problem I will let them know how. As it was said in a post here, "Can't we all just get along?" We used to, whats changed? Nothing I see, our comunity has grown, good or bad? Always good, but looks like we need a little more guidelines, basic do's and don'ts. I know we all have creative minds and abilities to decifer yes and no's. I'm not speakin out on this because someone pissed in my Cheerios, I get over things real quick, but when it's a daily issue it has to be addresed. I just jumped on the band wagon, walked to the front and told the driver some of the issues that aren't addresed. To all my FEP borthers and sisters, keep the four eyes rollin.....

I agree, I've been here only a year and a half or so, but the animosity level has risen since then, noticabley. Skye built this site to preserve the fox bodies (namely 79-86) that we love and enjoy. I love coming to this site everyday (yes everyday I can) and finding out whats going on here, read tech articles talking to people, and buying cars/parts occasionally, as well as sharing the info I know, which is not much ;). Some people (no names) that have been getting all upidy latley just need to chill the *roses* out. This board rules and Skye, Mike, Luke, and all other mods, ect. work hard at keeping this board civil and helpful, as well as trying to keep the "at home" feel. People need to understand that there are rules here for a reason, be it parting cars or whatever else, if you have a problem with that PM someone in Admin, don't drag everyone else here into your BS. I enjoy working on my car very much and I love that I can come here for great info whenever I need it. I don't go to places like Corral or other stang boards because they can be very immature sometimes.. I don't post there unless I expect stupid answers.. I love that people post progress on their cars and I encourage all to do so, POST LOTS OF PICS. Is what I tell lots of people, it's cool to see what other members are up to wheather you agree with it or not. Again Coupsters wheels come to mind. The guy was just letting us know he was getting new wheels for crying out loud. People need to stop whining about parting cars.. I'm quite sure people like Corey (50 proof), Jeremy (v8only), or Gabe (GT350R) aren't in it for the butchering aspect. But if you can't follow the rules get out, OR talk to an Admin about it in private!!! I look forward as always to coming back here checking up on everything, watching Mike (negusm)'s ASC come together, or watch FoxChassis ruthlessly moderate the classifieds (LOL) he IS a nazi, but seems like a cool guy. People need to suck it up and stop being babies (I just realized me posting this contradicted that last statment). None the less, people dont be discouraged by the recent events keep posting as always, we could use more progress reports on cars, and new ideas people have. As for me, Im going to bed.. I'll be back tomorrow for another day of FEP Drama (wow, never thought I'd say that) Goodnight everybody.

I'm hoping my second post in the classifieds was locked because it probably belonged here and not for some other reason. I'm just glad I found the part new (thanks negusm).

I dont post on the Corral much any more because of all the BS. People uaing the annomous nature of the internet to just be rude without recourse. I really like the down-to-earth nature of FEP forums.

the heat level on this forum definately has gone up lately.
I'm responsible for part of it. Coupester has a way of being very blunt about things(this isn't a bad thing) and Jeremy and I have a way of reacting to it. The result is/was a sort of flame war. Recently it has not been like that and(i think) we've all been able to get along okay, right chris? ;)

anyways, the board is growing and the amount of opinions going around here is increasing which results in arguements. no one wants to walk on egg shells all the time but no one wants to listen to arguements either, so maybe everyone can make an increased effort to PM the person they are having issues with.

growing pains. jose, i was actually considering putting up a post just like this, but I didn't want people to think I was putting fuel on the fire, or whatever. I sincerly hope no one has any hard feelings about anything, or anyone here. I know that Mick (foxchassis) is doing his job, and is required to enforce the rules for everyone, and I know and respect that completely, and have 0 hard feelings.

I think that the parting cars thing has been brewing and brewing and brewing lately. What I really hope comes out of that episode is some clear cut and defined rules not quite as vague as the last ones. I'll be completely happy to support what finally comes out of that.

With any growing board there are going to be problems like this. If anyone remembers the age thread from not too long ago, we seem to be seperated into two groups, 30+ and 20 under, so contrasting opinions from this type of age group are expected.

I think now that everyone is aware of the problem, we'll all (me included) try at making a more sophisticated and civilized attempt at disagreement, last thing we want is stangnet drama.

Any of you guy's notice that my brother (RACECAP97) doesn't post any more...He got fed up with the b/s..

I posted something similar to this a few months back and only got a couple response's.. Everyone needs to remember to not take anything to personal.. After all 90% of the time all we are doing is "Bench Racing".

FEP has never and prob never will be as bad as coral, stangnet, mustangworld etc etc... that sais alot about the quality of FEPs member's..

Their's not one single person here that i dislike.. I cant say that about alot of the "other" board's..

I run a site, and I know how difficult it is, Skye does a great job here. However, it is not Skye's responcibility to babysit people here, it is her job to make a site that people like, and try to get them to play by the rules. I know both Jeremy and Corey, and I know that they wanted to sell me that 86 in question. When I saw the ammount of body damage, I realized that it really is a total lose, even before the frame damage. We can not save every car, but if Jeremy was able to part it out and sell us items that we need to keep our cars going, where is the harm of that? If one car dies (one of abot 40,000 1986 GT hatchbacks) to save 5, I seel that as a fair trade. And who knows, maybe the drivetrain might be your V8 swap, or the electrical is your convertion to EFI.....think about it people, flame a guy that loves these cars for wanting to help get us hard to find parts from a car that needs at least $5000 in frame and body before painting, or let a guy with a proven track record help us out.....

WOW, I gotta say, good post, and brings up a lot of things the mods and admins have been discussing at length recently.

We ARE working out growing pains, this site has been through a LOT of changes since I stumbled upon it roughly 6 (nearly 7) years ago, and in time, all the changes have been for the best.

I THINK...scary I know, but I think we've put a kabosh on the tiffs, squabbles, pissing matches whatever you guys want to call them around here. I think all those in charge and the legions of FEP monkeys out there can all agree that a little arguing over stuff is fine, but when it comes to pointing fingers, do it in a PM, or talk to a mod/admin about it first. That way theres at least some organization to the argument.

Otherwise, I know for a fact that if I open up a thread thats just bickering and finger pointing, its getting locked and its leaving, I suspect the rest of the admin/mods feel the same way.

As I type there is a list of "behavioral guidlines" (HEY!! sounds like 3rd grade huh??lololol) and forum rules.

ANYHOO...I've babbled long enough, basically, live by this code:

play nicely, only sell your juice and cookies in the correct forum and being a tattle tail is kosher with me

well, maybe not that last one...lol

Plain and simple. The atmosphere here has declined quite a bit over the last 2 months or so. I just don't get it. We all come here to socialize, have a good time, learn some new things, and in general provide ourselves with an entertaining way to pass the time. Why all the negativity?

I've been reading a lot of this nonsense and wondering to myself, "Should I post something or keep my thoughts to myself?" Well, I've been keeping them to myself, hoping that this ridiculous, juvenile nonsense will disappear. I guess that I was wrong, for it hasn't.

Now that I've got that off of my chest, my suggestion would be for the moderators to nip this in the bud as soon as it starts. If a post has to be closed prematurely or members banned, then that's what needs to be done (Pull the trigger Hooptie, Pull it! )

I live by this quote, the only thing that I probably learned from my father: "If you don't have anything nice to say, DON'T SAY IT!"

Since I have been involved, I think it comes from several things.
1 - being at a computer and not in person. Meaning: you normally control yourself more in person and typed messages can easily be misread into something there not.

2 - Bench racing / discussions starting with parts of the story and finding difficult things to compare it to. We can all bench mechanic, but also know it is easier to analyze in person.

3 - People having crappy days in life and carrying it here. I think MANY (including self) are guilty. Remember, everyone formulates opinions based on experiences. People have different experiences with similar scenarios (not exact).

4 - The whole parting cars that are repairable issue -

I can type more, but need to get some stuff done prior to sleep.

5. No leghumping.

Thankfully, this has yet to become an issue. But, we all know it can happen and how much of a mess it becomes each and every time it starts. Let’s keep it from starting here if any opportunity arises.

Yes! I can testify to that... When the Preacher comes over for a visit, and my dog starts humping his leg... man is that embarrassing.... I agree, I don't want to see any "leghumping" here...

I'm guessing that's not the kind of "leghumping" your refering too... Well... at least I HOPE thats not what your refering too... So could someone define "leghumping" as it pertains to the Rules of Conduct for me?

Thanks

wow this post got pretty big. I'm glad to see the feedback from us FEP members is good. I know we all love our lil' comunity here, and enjoy comin in everyday. To Skye you run a kick ass forum, as were growing I know it's becoming harder for you to keep track of everything and everyone coming in. The moderators do a wonderful job as well. I guess for the most part havin a set of rules is better for the newbies, and a source of understanding for the fellas that have been here for a while. I'm glad we are all willing to make FEP better for all of us. I'm here to help in anyway. Well fellas, talk to ya'll later.

We were all there.. I am still relatively new (February of 2004 I think).

But, you will see people have heated discussions and it pretty much ends there.... As I think I stated, we all have bad days and typing can lead to miscommunications...

BUT, be warned.. Flaming topics include:
Aero Nose Swap
"Rice" Features (not mods, as known in the rice world)

Have fun, fight, err, I mean, PLAY fair, and let's start typing....

Here in the South there is a locally syndicated radio show adn they tell callers to ask themselves a few questions before they call.
1. would I be informed by someone else making my call?
2. Would I be enlightened if someone else said what I had to say?
3. would I be annoyed by my call?

I try to use that as a guideline in posting.

When I'm joking, I try to make sure that the people I'm joking on know it.
When I'm posting tech info, I try to be as detailed as possible.
When I'm posting an opinion, I am prepared to back it up.
If I ain't got nothing good to say... I don't say anything.
