My guess is v8 swap. Probably small block chevy. Although I have seen one with a 5.0 before.
I haven't seen any run all that fast with the turbo 2.6s they came with.

Mitsubishi Starion or Dodge Conquest. Made in the mid/late 80s. Came with a Single Cam turbo 2.6L 4 cylinder engine. Could be made quick, but were kind of on the chubby side.

Actually, notorious for being very quick with only minor bolt-ons. 87-88's were the ones to have ... and certainly one of the best looking cars of the 1980s ... I've always been a fan, and am saddened whenever I see one in the yards...

Those cars are MEAN looking. Like an extremely angry 944.
I thought long and hard about one before the SVO, but they're hard to find parts for, and theres a LOT to go wrong with one........sort of like an SVO...
I know a guy who had 7 of them at one time.

Yes, the fenders give it that "I'm gonna stomp a mud hole in your chest then rub your face in it" look.

I thought it was a flattened out Dodge Daytona at first...Then I though Rx-7. Then porshe 944..... Then I was sure it was neither of the 3 and I just gave up

Both cars are powered by 2.0L 4g63's, Both have powerglides, and 9" rear ends.
The Talon has run mid 7's @180+ But it only weighs 1800 with the driver.
The Conquest is Completely streetable That pass listed on the picture was on 26/10.5 et streets.
Both have 9500+ rpm ste-ups in them, enormous amounts of boost, and small shot of giggle gas.
If I'm not mistaken the talon has 35 psi in it with a 75 shot.
He told me the Talon has seen a 1.05 60'.
But the Conquest is raw, he came to the outlaw street events with it and was very competitive, and in that class the cars are insanely fast!
