Somebody make me feel better. I just bought a '91 triple black Mustang GT convertible. You may have seen it on e-bay, it had those big bling bling 17 inch rims and chrome fender covers. He could never get it auctioned off, so after looking it over in person during an auction (and not bidding), he contacted me and I offered him $2850 after a dead beat bidder stiffed him. He accepted. Anyway, he told me it had never been wrecked. I looked it over and over and found no evidence of repaint, nor was there any rust. There was one piece of the wreck free puzzle that did not fit. Yellow junk yard markings on the radiator brace, so I assumed. But hey, for $2850, I wasn't going to argue. I had been searching for this car for a long time. I got it home, and not wanting evidence of a junk yard part, I steel wooled it off. This morning, I'm glancing leasurely through my Fox Recognition Guide, and turn to page 149. Staring back at me is a radiator brace with factory markings that should be considered extremely rare. My jaw dropped. I screamed. I yelled. I hit myself repeatedly about the head. Fortunately, I was able to make out what the markings said on mine:
1-11-90
#474

I traced over it with yellow paint. Is there something more show worthy I should do?

As I was reading it, I was thinking to myself. "J/Y markings?? That sounds like assembly line markings..." D'oh!

Re-doing it in the yellow paint marker by tracing it the best you can is all I could suggest.

Evl,

Well, I assumed. And you know the rest of the saying. I put 2 and 2 together, and it was not 4. This is my 9th Mustang, and there has never been a factory marking there before. Furthermore, in all my years of reading mustang mags and books, and attending Mustang car shows, I don't ever remember factory markings thre. Add that to my leariness of the car never been wrecked, and I came up with "this is a junk yard piece." Believe me I've been "duh"ing myself all day. I'm no rookie, but I just pulled a major newbie.

Better Days,

It signifies that my convertible was built Thursday, November 1st, 1990, and it was the 474th Mustang built that day.

i'm kinda lost, sorry. You found this out through what was marked on the radiator brackets?

Actually, I found this out through the markings on the brace. The part with all the stickers, the part the brackets are bolted to.
