There is a 1980 2.3l auto. capri outside Williamsport PA in the junkyard that I wanted soooooooo bad. The guy at the junkyard wanted 400 bucks for it. It has a salvage title. At first glance, the car appears to be in excellent shape; that is, until you look underneath it.....
The rocker panels are GONE and by that I mean rusted away totally. YOu can see the floor pan the whole length of it. The quarter panels are dissolved at the bottoms and the right front frame rail is dissolving slowly. It is all fixable. If you can get junkyard rockers to replace the dissolved ones, then you are ok. The quarters can be fixed with Duraglass and the frame rail can probably be sectioned and a new piece of plate steel welded in. The motor is good and so is the transmission. The interior is taken apart but I'd say about 75% or more is there in a pile. I wanted to buy the car but money and a garage is a limiting factor for myself. If there is anyone interested in the car or wants pictures of it, PLEASE post a reply here saying so. I hate to see this car get crushed. It would be perfect for mods or even a resto. I have 18 pictures of the car.
Thanks, Ethan.

Next time I see a rusted 5.0L coupe, I'm going to suggest that it gets crushed.

That's the same as the boneyards / ads in this area.....
Are there any good parts on it?

That thing's got terminal cancer. It would take a monumental amount of time and money to try to bring it back. That's the kind of thing you save if you've got a full body shop/sheet metal fabbing place at your disposal and/or have a sentimental attachment to that particular car.
I'm glad my cars are pretty solid.

For what these cars are worth in reality, restoring a rusted out Capri isn't worth it unless for the reason Skye mentioned. A car like that would be good if you were to teeth yourself how to do body restoration and such...But for the value of the car, all that work would be a waste. With that kind of rust damage, buying it for anything over $100.00 would be stupid.

I agree, that's way too much work. I see capri's in the junk yard all day long, and they get crushed complete and whole with not one part taken off them, no one wants the parts anymore. If you really want a rust free capri, come to a so cal yard, buy one for $400, tow it back for $700, save yourself all the headaches and hassles of that kind of rust repair.
of all the Capris ive seen in the jy up here, ive never seen rust that bad.

Next time I see a rusted 5.0L coupe, I'm going to suggest that it gets crushed.
Are you saying that is fixable? ( and not that anything is fixable crap ) I mean, that is a car you would consider worth saving?

Was that an attempt at sarcasm????
Your judgement regarding the salvageability of rusted-out hulks brings up the question: how is your eyesight?
That car is so far gone, it barely renders itself useful to the scrap metal heap... not to mention it was completely undesirable in the first place. A non-V8 car composed of 90% iron oxide ?? Please ...

It's a worthless pile to anyone except bodymen in training, I would take the car simply for experiance, I have already replaced the whole bottom halves of both my doors and almost the full extent of me rockers as well as re-fabbed both my wheel wells (flare part) on my car, they were all rusted through, and that was alot of work.. But as Skye mentioned, my car had setimental value and I had the resources to fix it... That one may as well go to the crushers unless someone wants to do ALOT of patching, sealing and fibreglassing..

That was an attempt at pointing out your disdain for 'regular' four- and six-cylinder models....

I really don't care if they crush every non-Turbo GT non-SVO, 4cyl and 6cyl in existence, I really couldn't care... those cars are completely undesirable to me and only serve to bring down the values of our rare original v8 cars.
I find that to be a very poor attitude.

There's nothing wrong with the 4 and 6 cylinder models. They were built on the same assembly lines by the same guys as your 5.0l and 4.2l cars. They are made of the same metal, the same paints, the same seam sealers. The only difference is 2 or 4 less cylinders and some appearance or performance objects. A mustang is a mustang, a capri is a capri regardless of whether it is an lx or gt, gs or rs. I just feel the need to voice my opinion against people who feel that 4 and 6 cylinders are crap and should be crushed. If they deserve to be crushed, the your v8s deserve the same fate when they are in a junkyard.

I almost bought another capr but simple reason I didn't was because it was a 4banger and not because I hate em or anything its the simple fact that I don't even have my first one completely done yet would have been a down the road sorta project but switching out all that stuff to make it into what I want with no money and taking up more space I don't have I couldn't justify it I was super close to getting it though for the simple reason YOU DON'T SEE HARDLY ANY CAPRI's around EVER. Especially one as clean as that its in better shape then mine was when I bought it if I can't get another capri later on I'll be kicking myself that I never bought that 4banger too kinda makes me wanna go grab it lol
