NEone have 3-5 pt harness? info please...

Hi there. I have a 85gt Im workin on and my seatbelts are not usable. I have the parts to get them workin but I just dont like the design of the slide/plastic clips in the front latches. I was thinking about buying new ones when I see just what they go for now $$$. So I decided Id look into some reasonable harnesses. Ihave found numeras ones about $70 a piece. I am trying to devise ways to hook them up properly. Im assuming Id need a 2-4 pt rollbar to hook the upper straps with correctly. But has anyone done this on a stang? My cars not a crazy drag car, but when Im replacing things, Id just assume go alittle wilder and different than the norm and spend alittle extra $$$ go get alittle more unique and safer. Thanks.

you dont need a roll cage if you have the bolt in type i hade a 4 pt sabelt bolt in and had no prob putting it in it just means no one sits behind you and i used to drag the car i had them in and passed every inspection and yes still had the back seeat in

yuo can put teh harnesses in without a rollbar but it is very dangerous on teh street. Your stock seat belts are designed so in a roll over it pushes your head to teh center of the car. With a harness and no roll bar then your head has no where to go and if the roof is being caved in it hits your head which smashes your kneck and spine down and well yuo can figure out the rest. And merely putting in a 4 point roll bar to have a harness is not the best idea as it won;t pass tech as far as any speed is concerned. After 11.99 you need a 6 point roll bar. So if your going to put a roll bar and add teh weight you might as well make it a 6 point and shoot for 11 second E.T.s otherwise if you plan on roadracing the car a 4 point is legal. Otherwise put stock style seat belts back in and be safe. Joe check around the classifieds and what not and even make a post with a title something like WTB "color" seat belts for 85 stang. someone somewhere will have your belts that are in good shape. If you put a harness in your car with out a roll bar I will personally come to Florida and beat you over the head with a frying pan LOL (you know I am only kidding of course) I know your a smart kid, and i know you like to do things the right way. a harness with out a roll bar is not the right way.

totally man. I was thinking about something that wuold be safe for street use. Nothing crazy. I have seen 4 pt roll cages and 4 pt harnesses around. Thats what Im looking for. Something safe for regular use but not absurdly overkill like a 8-10pt cage. I posted in the other section that you posted in too. Theres more info in it but the above pretty much cleans up everything.
