Does anyone have access to the full report?

I got one from another site...

Somewhat confused by it....

Car is a Mustang LX (not GT as thought)
Car was an Auto (now a 5 speed) and will show pics of how I knew
Car was EFI?
Car is a 5.0

No title history prior to 96.

So, what happened in the first 12 years of this car?

As far as I know...automatic 1984 5.0 Cars were EFI (actually CFI). Manual cars got the 4v carb. This carried over to 1985 except the Manual Carbed cars got a Roller engine too.

So what you are saying makes perfect sense.

What is it now? Carbed?

Do NOT rely on decoders to tell you if a car is a GT, Cobra, etc.Ford did not put trim level identifiers in the VINs (although early Fox VINs will tell you if a car is a Ghia or not..., but nothing more). According to every decoder, CarFax, whatever, my GT is listed as an LX, when it most certainly is not and has the buck tag and original bits to prove it.

Even the title? What will the title say?

How can I find information about prior to '96?

The title would probably say Ford Mustang 3dr Hatchback or something like that

Titles aren't any help, either. My RS is listed on the title as a MERC CAP. How nice. Comes up on insurance as a GS. My old IL title had my GT as an LX...don't remember what my AZ title says at the moment.

The only way to tell is to either see the car in person and know enough about what you're looking at to make an educated guess, or to find the buck/body tag in the core support area and see what it says.

Well, I know the car was an auto.... Based on the plasma cut for the 5 SP.

I have to decode the trans now to see which it is...

And, BTW, would the trans being about 1 1/2 quarts low cause it whine? :roll: (pics coming tomorrow, I hope)

And the posi is gone now... wasn't before...

Well, I know the car was an auto.... Based on the plasma cut for the 5 SP.

I would be careful there too...

Wasn't there a thread a ways back on how Ford did that nasty hole in the hump for the tranny. Somebody thought it wasn't factory and a few other people said theirs was the same.

What does the door tag read?

Here is what it reads:
VIN - then off to the right it has F0084 and underneath that is R0169

On the following line, it reads the following:
61B FA G1 8 C Z 255YY

Any help?

255YY

2=5 Speed Manual
55 = front springs = d8bz5310bf
yy = e4bz5560h

Well, I know the car was an auto.... Based on the plasma cut for the 5 SP.

All 5 speeds were cut like that. They had a second lay "hump" tacked on top of the floor pan, and they cut the hole out in the bottom layer. Auto's dont have that cut or the second layer.

Is that the body buck tag you typed in? I see nothign that says the model.
