I have been looking into converting my brakes over to an sn95 10" 5-lug upgrade along with the 5-lug rear disk setup using the stock track and tubular a-arms with the sn95 balljoints.
Now of course going to 5-lug i would need another set of wheels. I really like the Cobra R rims personally and decided to check out ebay motors. They have replicas on here that are like half the price of the original OEM rims. Does anyone know if you can you tell the difference or if these are garbage? Personally i would want the originals however if i can save like 600-700 bucks and no one would know the difference then why not?
I could certainly use that money elsewhere in this never ending project.

85cobraX,
You need to get 94-95 spindles for the front track, Ranger axles and special bracket to run the SN-95 rear discs and calipers. I believe you will need different emergency brake cables, not sure since I am running Mark VII rear discs for now.
This site http://www.northracecars.com/catalog/brakes/brakes.htm has your rear parts options.
You can also check this thread out. We just had a discussion earlier this week. http://www.foureyedpride.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11142 . There are a few other helpful links in the thread.
Hope this helps,
Rob.

Oh its not the brakes i am asking about. I know all of the parts i require to do this conversion.
What i am wondering about is, since i am doing a 5-lug conversion along with this i will need new rims. Really i am enquiring about these "replica" cobra R and cobra rims i keep seeing on e-bay as to whether they are junk or not. They are a fair bit cheaper but dunno the quality of them or if you can tell they are replicas.
Regards.

Okay, are they built to ISO Standards? At a minimum, that's what I would look for. Does Stangnet have any reviews on them? Other sites covering more years may get you more responses? People might also be bypassing this thread, since looking at the subject line it looks like you are asking the same old question. Which is what I thought and, being nice, answered accordingly. Have you checked out http://www.afswheels.com/v2/ ? They may be able to shed some light on replica wheels for you.

Check Summit as well... they have the replica's ( I think) as well as a lot of the mustang mags.

Yeah just found this link on Corral in one of the threads for Gene Evans Ford Racing. Cheap too and most of them are the originals or offered by Ford Racing. Here is the link:
http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=G&Category_Code=WHEELS
I would go with these i think over those "replicas" i have been seeing. However the replica's are apparentlt built to OEM spec. I will check out Summit as well as they may be easier to deal with in terms of shipping for my location.
Sorry you misunderstood the title but i did say "and Wheel Selection" and not "what is required for SN95 conversion"
Thanks for the replies guys.

I would encourage you to pick something a little less beaten to death as far as wheel choice. If you're going through the trouble of a nice 5 lug swap, why go with the most commonly seen aftermarket wheel in history?
The original and now discontinued 95 Rs were attractive wheels. However, when they made the center section thicker in order to accommodate both 4 and 5 lug drilling, it made the wheels look...not quite right.
Any of the top few of the ones on the gefracing link would be pretty cool to see on an early Fox.

I like the '99 cobra wheels. I have a good friend who has one and in an effort to help hide some of the brake dust problem he was having, he painted the interior edges of the wheel black to match the car.. looks KILLER!

are you looking to get 17's?
I'm putting 17x8 bullit wheels on my 88 coupe and from what I'm reading I should be able to get these to fit with 245/45's without having scraping or having to modify anything to avoid scraping.
The cobra-r's are very popular, some people think they are too played out but honestly get what you like, it's your car. Your the one thats gonna have to look at it, not jim smith from whatever mustang board. if you like the cobra-r's get em. There are so many different types of 5 lug wheels that came on the SN95's as well as aftermarket 5 lug wheels, so make sure you check them all out before you decide.

I wouls stay away from 90% of the aftermarket wheels. Any of you guys remember all of the problems AFS wheels where having!!!!!!!!!!!
If you wan the cobra'a i would look at getting the BBKs. They seem to be excellent quality and i have never heard a single person complain about them..

I like the mach 1 wheels a lot. You could be different and put 94-98 V6 wheels on
These are nice too...

Hey corey the Mach 1 Magnum 500 Wheels RULE!! I would someday like a set of Mach 1 Magnum 500's for my hatch and Chrome or Charcoal Bullitts for the coupe, they are the two nicest wheels that for put out for a mustang IMO. Well. Actually OLD Mags on the 60's stangs were awesome too..

But I still think 99 Cobra's look the best. And they're probably still the cheapest.

I agree and you just cannot beat $110 per wheel.

I definately see your points about doing something original. However were i am in Ontario, i think this year i have seen only 3 four eyes cars this entire year besides mine. Man i remember when everyone had these cars up here.
For me i luuuuv the 1999 Cobra Rims and am leaning towards these right now. I havn't seen a single set of these on a mustang up here. Definately going to go with a 17x8 rims on all 4 corners regardless because i am also thinking of getting and bolting in a complete 94-95 8.8 then swapping my 3:73 gears over. And as stated you cannot beat the price however i cannot believe the difference in price in canada even after you do the currency conversion. Check this out.
One 99 Cobra Rim up here is $260.00 CAN!!!!! which right now is 200.00 US!!!! and that is without rubber and without 15% tax on top of that. Forget that crap!!! I can get them for 109.95 from GEFRacing. I am either going to order them from the closest parts shop in the states and have them shipped or i will order them and drive down to Ohio and have them put on hehe :).
I don't care if i have to wait a month for them especially when saving almost 100.00 to 150.00 US per RIM.
It is amazing how easily the money goes though to get stuff done to your car. Over the next year i am into about $6000.00 CAN for the parts and work i want to do with paint, wheels and tires and an X-Pipe w/cats being the majority of that. Thank god for wrecking yards is all i have to say. Its amazing to think that even after all of that money put out i really still have a stock engine with some bolt-ons, stock t-5 and stock rear-end in my car. I should have been a lawyer or something.
