How big can I go without changing anything? How big with minimal mods(if there is such a thing)? Backspacing needs to be....? I'm not wanting to go over 17", just curious about the width I can get away with.
Thanks

I don't know what the largest is... but if you want to get the outside diameter nearly the same as TRX's... 235's/245's on a 17x8 should clear nicely...
245/40/17 24.71
190/65/390 25.07 TRX
235/45/17 25.32
275/40/17 25.66 Some people use this on 17x9's on the rear...
245/45/17 25.68
Don't think that really answered your question... Sorry...

The widest tire I had on the 82 with the 7.5 and slapper bars was 225's. I think 245/50/16 would look real nice on all 4 corners.

I have 235/60R14... they rubbed the front fender extensions. I'm not installing my new extensions until I get some different wheels/tires

I'm still wondering why my car doesn't have the factory traction bars :(

You could have a 8.8. Is the rear sway bar thick? The 7.5 rear sway bar is no thicker than a coat hanger.

My sway bar is much thicker than a coat hanger but I compared the rear under the '82 to the rear under the '84 full size Bronco in my driveway and they are definitely NOT the same rearend.

So I suppose the hopes I have of running 275/40/17s ain't happening? Pardon my ignorance but what changed and when because I know I've seen later model foxes with the fat boys on all 4 corners?

I haven't seen anyone running 275's on the front... So I don't know about that combo... I've seen a bunch of folks with 275's on the rear though...
Good Luck...

I may have been thinking about SN95s w/275 up front.
I've seen a bunch of folks with 275's on the rear though...
Are you saying you've seen foxes in general w/275s out back or 82s w/275s out back?

I have an 85gt that I just put a set of 17x8s with a 255-40-17. Looks very nice. No rubbing. the tire pokes out the fender a smidge. Looks aggressive! Ill send you a pict if youd like. I just had ford c springs installed yetserday so the fender gap might be a lil different but youll get the idea. Shoot me an email: joelliott82@hotmail.com if you like.
Good Luck.

I've seen quite a few 79-93 Stangs run 275's in the rear...
I run 245/45/17's on all 4 corners of my 86... at full lock I get a bit of rubbing up front... Steering limiters would solve that though
