So, let's say I put 235/60-15's on the back and 225/50-15's on the front. What do you think? Is the aspect ratio and all that crap going to be ok? Does this sound like a good choice?

I need to do it, even though I'm broke, because the steel belting is showing through on one front tire, and a bubble is developing on the other front tire. The rear tires are 195's, and one of those has a slow leak which requires a refill every week. Yeah, these are tires that came with the car. :(

Use this. Can input the stock size, then the modified size and see if they match good.

I say 245/60/15 on the Back and 215/60/ 15 on the front, thats what I run :D No problems yet!

I run the 235/60 and 225/60 on 86 stock 10 holes. It doesn't seem to throw anything off. I have a AOD with 3:27s. I will probably stick with this size (235s) I will be replacing mine as well. The tires are fine except for the fact they are snow tires (non-studded) and with the juice on you may as well be diggin trenches down the track!

thanks for the input so far guys. The tires are going on 10-holes, if you're curious.

your "slow leek" is probly your rim not your tire and you wont really tell 225/50 from 235/50

im running 225/50R15 all the way around with BFG G force t/a KDs on the rear there the best griping tire on the market that isint a drag... they will empty your pocket book but well worth... (i also only payd cost for them cuz i work for belle tire...)

Mine are on Turbines, so I don't know how that profile would look on 10 holes.. But I say do it anyways, Rear end of the car will sit a bit higher, but it looks mean as hell IMO

A little rake isn't bad. ;) It wasn't a primary goal of mine, but it comes along with making sure I have front tire clearance.

Anybody know of any good 245/55/15 tires on the market?

why not make it easier on yourself and just run 225/60-15s on all corners. the difference between 225 and 235 is negligable, and it will make it easier on you for rotating them. just a suggestion.

I agree with 85 GT. 225/50 are too short for the rear unless you are REALLY lowered a lot (which presents its own problems). If its a street car you may as well get them the same so you can rotate them and get all the life out of them possible.

I've been running 235-60 x 15s and they work just fine, you get just a little larger contact patch and they fill up the wheel wells a little more, they don't rub. with 225s you get a 8.865 inch contact patch, with 235s you get 9.259 inch contact patch which is just a little over a 1/4 of and inch wider, and your speedo will be just about a mile a hour slow, so at 60 mph you will actually be running about 61 mph, not that all this matters just thought I would get my two cents worth in. This is not a bad idea, keeping them all the same. The front wheel wells do have a lot of space in them.

...this was my thing too, that I really wanted to fill up the rear wells a little better, and do the same with the front without any rub up front. So, I could probably put 225/60-15's on all four corners. :?: It is true that the height is about the same as the 235/60'15's

[addendum]
of course, the tires I want aren't available in 225, so I'll just go with the 235/60-15 size. Somebody in this thread said it works. (paul86gt)

Keep in mind that a larger diameter tire is like a numerically lower rear gear ratio.

Basically it takes more gear for a taller tire. You don't want to put too tall of a tire back there or you will need to change your gears.

I myself have been thinking of 235-60-15's on all 4 corners. The 225's just look a little wimpy on the Capri. Not to mention the 205-60-1's that are on it now make it look like a LO-RI-DAH. But this is how I bought it.

All Iwant to know is if anyone is running 235's and have ample room with no rub in front or rear. Thanks Capri

If your suspension is up to snuff, they "shouldn't" rub, but if your struts are sagging, they will rub when you turn. 235s on the rear are no problem whatsoever.

I ordered 235/60-15's intended for the rear. Next paycheck, I'll get two more. I think I'm going to try to put 235's on the front too. I also have to get the front and aligned, the camber seems off. Too much outside edge front tire wear.

My 86 T-Top GT runs 235's on the front with it lowered 1" and has no rubbing. I also currently run 255's on the rear with no rubbing even with the quad shocks still in place.

I'm to cheap to buy a digital camera and I don't have a scanner either. I'll see about borrowing a camera and put something up soon.
