Hi
I am going to be dropping on 11" rotors and 73mm calipers on my Capri (Maybe im just a TAD paranoid after my no brake experence on thursday) And of course I need new spindles. Soooo...
Are all 87-93 spindles the same? or do I need to use GT spindles for the 11" rotors?

Should've been paranoid like me and read this thread awhile back 8)
As long as they are from a V8.

Have fun finding SVO calipers anywhere near affordable.
When I bought mine, they were on National back order every where I called. I ended up finding a "loaded" kit at a mom and pop place that had about an inch of dust on it.

I "may" know someone with calipers they are selling...if they aren't gone already.

8) dont need svo calipers, just buy a set of crown vic calipers, if you get the police units you get a steel piston, and you automatically get the 73mm pistons. they just bolt in place. you can even use the mustang pads, some have better friction material, if you adjust the retaining clips on the pads.

BUT SVO CALIPERS ROCK...
actually not what I orignally said.
Get the calipers for a '91 Lincoln Mark VII for a direct bolt in (other 86-91 Lincoln's should all have the 73 mm calipers, 86-91 Crown Victorias and 84-86 SVO 4cyl Turbo Mustangs). Here are the part numbers the remanufactured Bendix parts:
Left caliper : R55247S
Right caliper: R55246S
Info from the brake upgrade site.

A nice 88 Lincon Town Car donated its 73mm Steel pistoned calipers towards the project yesterday already. I will put some new seals and bleeders and a freash coat of caliper paint and be done.
I also grabbed the Master Cylinder, but I think its only a 1" bore, so it will be going in as a core on a LSC unit.
I just needed to make sure i have to find V8 spindles (which are going to be HELL to find here!!)

Lewis, I don't know what you're talking about mang. I picked up my SVO calipers from Auto Zone for $15 apiece, several other stores in town here had them too. Strange..

when I upgraded, I bit the bullett and got Cobra brakes, the differance is amaizing. I have driven many Mustangs, and there is not that much differance between the 10 inch and 11 inch rotors, even with the 73mm calipers in my opinion.

i had to spin out my tie rod ends 7 times on each side to get it back in alignment. so be prepared for that.

87-93 V8 spindles ( must be V8 ), or you can use 87-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe spindles like I did (same part).

but its sooo much easier for you to find it for me!
I dont bother looking on TF for anything of use, usaly its nothing but BS over there. Turbopit's constant useless posting fills 85% of the archive anyway!

Hey, someone needs to drop this into the FAQ, it was timely for me also, as I picked up a set of V8 spindles and rotors w/o any calipers.
BTW does anyone know if there is a set of 5-bolt hubs that will work with the fox spindles and a set of Bulliett wheels? I've been told the Mark VII hubs are too tall for those wheels.

Well since turboford is getting rather difficult to get straight answers from we need to start our own database. I'm sure Skye would enjoy that since pretty much everything will apply to her turbo RS and now her SVO..
What do you say Skye....

Here are two options to make SN95 wheels work from the Stangnet Board:

Don't know about the spacer idea, but I have heard of others grinding some of the hub off to fit the caps. Those Mach1s sure looked nice on RTGreens LX, but would be even better on a four-eye. He'll be posting pics of his rotors soon.
If you can $wing it, the SN95 fronts will give the ability to upgrade to the 13" Cobras later.

The SN-95 stuff is the way to go. I swapped to the later Fox stuff for a couple of years, but then swapped to Cobra brakes last year. Huge difference in performance, but not that much difference in price if buying used parts. I found my front Cobra set-up for $250 complete. You could probably get the GT or V6 parts even cheaper and upgrade later.

How long ago?
I just did my swap about a week before carlise , and NO ONE had them. I couldnt even order them with any answer on when they would have them!
Weird , huh?
