what exactly would cause the brakes to burst into flames? happened to me today going to a doctors appointment  if someone would have called me when it was getting towed saying they wanted it i probably would have signed the title over right then...if i didn't need it tomorrow i wouldn't have taken it to meinike(i have good deals through them but still) even with discounts and **** i am still paying 733.53 for all new brakes in the front, front bearings, master cylinder, brake booster, all new lines and i think thats it...****ty that i paid less than that for the car and i could have done a 5 lug swap for less than that but hey i dont have a second car and needed to work today...oh well

It happened to an English friend of mine. He used something funky to clean his wheels with. Think it was soaked up by the brake pads and lit off when he went for a drive. No damage to speak of. Just some embarrasment.

I can't believe they stuck you for that much, especially that much much, and especially you. Man, I feel bad. It's just me, but I would have rather spent a night without sleep doing the brakes myself for $200 then to spend $733 on ANY stock fox brakes.
All that stuff could have been bad, but something likely got on the rotor. Thats a very long list of stuff to replace.
Its done now though, and done professionally. did you get the "lifetime" warranty on it??

they are covering it all on the "i dont have to pay a million dollars if it ****s up again they just replace the **** lifetime plan"
that kills my plans for the paint this weekend and for a motorswap within the next month  but i couldn't have gone without it so whatever..i think they are going to let me open another meinike account and save something like 50% on this whole deal so that would rock..they are already using all kinds of customer coupons to cut me some slack  im asking for a sponsorship when i go to pick it up :woowoo:

Geez, I drove all over the place in a rental Contour (owned by the dealership that seriously F-d up my '00 GT) with the e-brake engaged a few clicks and the stupid brakes didn't catch on fire. All they did was glow bright red, smell really bad, and then seize up when I parked it for the night....but no fire.
It sucks you got hit with a huge repair bill for stock crappy brakes. At least they were willing to knock it down some for you.

I have NEVER heard of brakes catching on fire! I have got mine to smoke and smell nasty during a car chase though 8O

I think Zap got one straight through the ten-ring. Happened to a friend of mine too. There was minor damage to his truck, though not as much as his ego.
