Ooooh...that should be close. I think you will be able to do it, but don't quote me!!
you might have rubbing problems on like, hard turning.

cool86, Ive been scoping out your car a lil here the past few days. Very nice!. I recently started a new project on my hand me down fathers 1985 GT. Black, look very much like yours. I have ordered 17x8 front and 17x9 rear cobra rs and 255-40-17 rubber. The shop told me they would run on my mustang with no rubbing. Hince the reason for the 17x8 front. I read that you droped your stang 1.5in. You set up look very nice and is close to what I am hoping to achieve in the future with my basically stock 85. What drop kit did you use? I am hoping to find a kit that drops only about an inch front and .5 rear. I am also about to have new rear quad shocks installed and I was wondering if you knew any shock that was better than KYB but not as expensive as the tokicos?
I want to get the stance right the first time as to not have to change it all the time. By the way, I live in Gainesville, Fl and frequent a small town near Ft. Myers to visit my parents often. I pass through your area alot! If there are any good local shops that do good work on stangs, Id really appreciate the link to have my car tinkered on every now and then. Thanks and have a good evening.

I had 17x9 wit 235/45 In the fronton my 85 gt and they fit fine but on other cars they will not so you may have to take a chance.
