I've been working on restoring a 1986 Mustang GT Vert Rust Bucket, that is pretty much on its last legs. I'm getting pretty close to being done and the next step is to replace the rear brake lines and hose. The hose disconnects on one end, but the other end (the end that goes into a junction).. how does it come off? How do I remove the junction, hell, how do I replace the hose? I was given a completely different hose than what is on there by a local parts store.. and i dont see/feel any bolt that holds the junction to the diff... is it welded/soldered?

Am I doing something wrong?

Please help!

Regards,
Gered

The hose doesn't come out of the junction. It's all one piece. And it's also connected to that bracket, semi-permanently. Use a line wrench to remove the steel lines (for the left and right side wheel cylinder or caliper) from the juntion and a deep socket to remove the braket from the rear.

Sorry for being so blind and all thumbs.. but from what i can see.. the junction isnt a bolt/hex... is it threaded onto the diff? There isn't any bracket that it is on from what i can see.. its just chillin on the diff -- looking like it is welded; both lines are out, but the hose is sill sitting there.

Maybe I'm blind, but thank you very much for your help and if you could further explain it I would be very appreciative.

Thank You For Helping A N00B out

Regards & Have a good one,
Gered

wherever there is a hex-type fitiing [like one you can put a wrench on and loosen] it should un-bolt. i know that rubber hose assembly may look like two pieces, but it isn't. if the replacement hose looks wrong, head back to the parts store, they should have an illustrated book of the brake hoses there. looks like a cold night in connecticut to be doing this. i'm from ansonia. :D
