When I step into the pedal in any gear the rpm's go up effortlessly but the carb. lags. like its not getting enough fuel? It revs nicely but under a load it chokes it self out. I have a Holley 750 DP, 74 jets, 31 prim. discharge, and a 65 power valve, float bowls are at perfect height. could a fuel pump cause this? its a stock mechanical Carter.

What fuel line are you using????
I was using a aftermarket fuel line for the carb, like the one russell sells..
It was starving the rear bowls..
Disconect the secondary linkage and see what it does on the primaries only.. if it runs better then you know you have a problem with the secondaries..
What size squirters are in it??? Doese it feel like a lean bog or is it loading up??
Try it on the primaries only and see what happens.. You could be getting to much fuel or not enough when the secondaries open up...
It's been awhile since i messed with a carb i hope one of the carb guy's jumps in with a little help..

I would try the secondaries also. is it a vacuum or mechanical carb? if it is vacuum I would check for a vacuum leak. got a fuel pressure reg on it? how much pressure you getting?

I would suspect the fuel pressure, I noticed my fuel pressure laying down at about 6,000 RPM on a chassis dyno once, in the garbage went that stock pump!
