Any body every have this happen, i started my car, heard a weird noise, popped the hood and bam! noise gone..only cuz the idler pulley is now laying in the snow.

What could have cused this, the pulley is full of metal shavings and the axle is still on the bracket.

how do you change these, do you just get a new pulley or pulley and bracket?

Bearing is a sealed bearing over time the seal cracks, it then looses lubrication, spins till it is dry, and then BLAM! It fails.
