I want to detail the bottom of my 86 T-Tops. Underneath you a shiney new tremec 3550 and aluminum driveshaft, but everything else looks dirty. Are there places you can go to to have the under carriage detailed? Or is there a good way to do this without disassembling most of the car? Does anyone have any pictures?
I know not many people will be looking under the car, but i'm trying to build a nice show car.

just get you a couple cans of rustolem spray and do it your self , thats how i did the most of the undercarage of my 86 , and for the wheel wells and inner fenders get a can of under coating spary, looks real nice in my opinion.

So... I searched around and finally found the picture...
Hope it helps...

Thats how my 91 LX is, except I used Por15 on all the brake and gas lines.
On my show GT350, I am doing the floor pans in the correct 9L white. Then detailing everything else in semi gloss black. Driveshaft is Aluminum , and the axle will be Por15.
4 wheel disc calipers are all Maroon, same color as the stripes.
Anyone thats thinking I am crazy or BS'ing, has never seen my car :D

GT350R Are you going to use a single stage paint
or a base coat/clear for your floorpans ?

I would really like to see some pics of these cars with detailed undercarriages, but on my car I usually just spray some flat black in the wheel wells and pretty much forget the rest of the underside even exists.
On my dads 85 5.0 coupe, which is in much better shape then mine, we cleaned everything and rattlecanned it all black except for the rear end "pumpkin" housing (I think that's what its called) we painted it aluminum silver.

Well, to be honest with ya, I am not even sure if I am going to shoot a clear on the top side. I was thinking of just going plain ol' 9L like it was from the factory.
I would think using a flex additive would help against some of the chipping that is bound to happen.
I want to get it done this summer or spring. Alot of this is going to depend on how tied up I get with these other cars. My 91 is done. I should sell you that 82 , and then I would only have to get the Grey 84 and the new GT350 done which would make it ALOT easier on me! The Grey one just needs inspected and all the cool parts thrown at it. The GT350 , needs everything possibly even welding in a new core support. Hell, that could even be my practice car.
79 Cobra, by the way...... do you even do any painting?

Damn that picture looks great. I want my 86 to look like that. What is the 9L white and Por15? How do people make their car look like that?

9L is my Ford paint code. The original white of my car.
Por 15 is a little harder to explain. Its like a super hard paint that will encapsulate rust if there is any, and will prevent rust from forming in the future. Its pretty wicked stuff. Do a search about it on the net. You might find out some neat info about it. Warning, it is expensive!
