Hey guys,

Well as some of you may know, im planning to do some replacements and stuff on my 1980 Mustang Cobra (for a factor of track times and also the current stock engine needs a compelte overhaul, leaks everywhere).

Im just woundering if poeple cna give me the price value of a 1980 Mustang Cobra in stock, since there sorta rare i might try and fix the engine and put it back in when ive had my fun with the strong engine.

Unfortunately the early Fox Cobras just aren't worth alot, mainly becuase it was really just an appearence package. Add to that the meager peformance of the 5.0 and the later 4.2 and you have a car that not many people are trying to find.

That said, I think the Cobras are some of the neatest looking early Fox bodies around.

If you do a clean install, say with a mild 5.0, keeping it looking fairly stock, you won't hurt the value at all, matter of fact you may increase it. One the other hand, if you go crazy and make it an all out track monster, you'll only get for it what it is worth as a race car, not an early 80s Cobra.

Drop Hissing Cobra a line, he is currently doing a really nice restoration on his 79 Cobra with a built engine.

Oh, I dunno about that - well-preserved examples can fetch a fair premium over a standard 'Stang of the same vintage. They certainly aren't as special as, say, a '69 Boss 302 or 428 Super CobraJet car, but tape jobs were all that Ford offered in the way of something "special" during the Fox years.
