There is a leak on the passenger side of my 86 GT T-Tops. Now before you go saying it's the T-Tops, I'm pretty sure it isn't.

When I bought the car, the passenger door panel was curled up on the bottom corner near the kick panel. At first I thought, no big deal, i'll throw on another door panel. Well it's rained, somewhat, around here, and the door panel I put on is now starting to curl up and get warped. I Imagine it's due to water leaking in somewhere. I don't believe there are any rust holes. I've looked over the car, the floor boards don't have any rust at all, neither do the doors. When it rains, I don't see any water leaking in through the T-Tops. would this be the door weather stripping? I have some nice black door panels I want to put on, but I don't want to ruin these. They were quit hard for me to find.

You could have someone sit in the car and get a water hose and spray it all over. That's how I found the leak in my brother's nissan over the summer.

it does almost sound like a weatherstrip problem. are they cracked or hard or damaged at all? if any of those conditions exsist, that may be where the water is coming from. also, check the weatherstripping around the door that is on the car for damage or being old.

are the dew wipes in good shape and check the drain holes at the bottom of the door. Sounds like water is getting into the door and standing rather than draining out. When it gets high enough, it spills over the lip at the bottom of the door and wets the door panel.

FoxChassis, thanks, I saw that, but I don't think it applies to my situation. I thought at first, oh great, bad T-Top weather stripping, but if it were the T-Top weather stripping that is bad, it seems strange that the only part on the car being affected would be the bottom of the door panel.

Thanks for all the replies, i'm going to check the drain holes in the door. I know the dew wipes on the outside are shot to hell. Maybe water is leaking into my door threw there? Which would also explain why my passenger side window motor is getting harder and harder to roll up(motor burning out from water leaking in). I haven't had a chance to really look at the weather stripping around the door, i'll check that too. Thanks again everyone.
