:D Hello all my new future Friends I'm new Hi all, Ok Question, is there a difference between a 1982 Flywheel and a 1990. I have up-graded my 82 auto to a 1990 T-5 standard and I now have a bad vibration at higher speeds. Even sitting in neutral, I rev my engine up 4000 rpm's it will start to vibrate. So in my investigation I have been told I need a flywheel from a 1979 to 1982 / 4 speed. So if in fact this is the answer to my problem, I will be in the need to find a 4 speed Flywheel, like I mention above. If someone does have this flywheel for sale , PLEASE contact me!! thanks for any and all help with my problem Signed Niizhmkwa, which means Twobears. :D

Hmmm.

I did this same thing in my 81 2.3 n/a several years ago but it had a 4spd (SROD I think) and I put a T5 from a 86 Turbocoupe. I used all the driveline from the TC (ex driveshaft) including the flywheel. I had no issues with it at all. Iirc, the flywheels were identical though.

I've known of others who have converted from auto to manual but they've never had this issue either. Typically flywheels are balanced separately as an individual unit and 2.3 crankshafts are individually balanced as well. Might it be possbile you had an unbalanced flywheel? All 6 flywheel bolts tightend to 60 ft lbs?

I can't think of anything else, it should be straight forward conversion.

What about your U-joints? Is it possible that the tranny pull and swap-a-roo that your U-joints gave their last? It wouldn't really make sense, but it's a really remote possibility?
