Hi I just put in a set of digital gauges in my 84 gt carbed and eveything works fine but the fuel gauge will not read i know it's the yellow wire with white stripe on it, but it worked with my old analogs , it was not all that correct tho. but anyway even running a jumper wire from the fuel tank to the digi gauge wire it will not show a reading ,but the gauge will light up . if any one can help or have a suggestion please let me know.

Fuel gages operate based on ohm readings. All manufacturers used different ohms to register the fuel level at the gage. Some used increasing ohms to show increasing fuel levels, and other manufactureers used the opposite. Fords have many differences and have also consistenly been different than Chevy and Dodge over the years. So, my first question to you is: Is this new fuel gage designed to be used with your fuel sending unit? If not, that's your problem. If the new gage is designed to work with your car, my next step would be to measure the ohms that your sending unit is registering, both at the gas tank and at the gage. If it doen't register, then it's the gage. Hope this helps...

Ok thanks for the info . and the gauge was built for 79-86 mustangs . so i will check my wires with my ohm meter . also a strange thing is happening with them , a full tank is supposed to register 99 on the gauge but mine shows 00 , but as you go up the road on a full tank it will go 1,2,3,and so on . i don't know were to trust it reading backwards or not?

Okay... Well if you are running a stock sending unit, it should be reading 73 ohms empty and 8 to 12 full. The stock Mustang sending units run backwards to most others. Most Chevys and Dodges run 0 empty and 30/60/90 full. Sounds to me like your gauge may not be the right one since it is reading backwards. But, either way, your ohmmeter will definitely tell you where the problem is...

I have the same problem. Just converted my 83 to 1990 fuel injection. The 1990 tank has a pump/sending unit that is backwards to what my 83 gauge is looking for. Does anyone know of a fix or adapter for this? I would prefer to keep my 83 dash.

when i converted my 85 to 90 efi i just ordered an autometer guage and used it...plus itn matches all the other aftermarket guages i installed.

That's what I did too. I also have a "fuel injected" gas tank, and the Autometer gauge works perfect with it..

:( I just found out today that the company that made my gauges put the wrong programming in them now i have to send them back for a re-programming. they set them to use a 23 to 145ohm setting . when it should have been the 11.0 to 73 ohm setting.

They are nordskog performance gauges for 79-86 mustang's and they have newer i called summit gave them the part # DP5301 red and they ordered them cheeper than nordskog's web site sell's them . summit $429 + shipping check your fuel sending unit before you order them to see if it reads 23 empty to 145 ohms full tank for this is the way they come programed and my sender was 11.5 to 70 and i have to send them back to nordskog to re-program the fuel gauge.

Now that you have had the gauges in the car (and worked with Nordskog), how do you like them?
I am looking at something similar for my car.... Since my gauges, plus the panel if I purchased it would be about $700.....
Anyone else have any experience with Nordskog?

Hi Thanks For the info. I Have Had Them For about Six Months Now and They Work Great . Their Easy To Read During The Day And Cool At Night . The Company Nordskog Was Easy To Work With on Fixing My Problem . They Just Put The Wrong Programming In it For my Car.
CHECK YOURE FUEL SENDER BEFORE YOU OREDER !!! It Will Save You Time As Described In The Above Articals . The Gauges Have A Life Time Warrenty On Them . The Only Gripe I Have Is When I Had To Send Them Back They Made Me Pay For The Return Shipping To Them . But They Paid For It Back To Me. Hope This Helps You !
