ok, my old scenerio, non adjustable control arms (BBK), new shocks, springs from an 88 vert., and all this is on an 8.8 w/ 4.10 gears w/all new bushings in my 83 coupe...
I measured my pinion angle (ok, had a shop do it), and they said it was off horribly, and they recomended a sed of adustable ones...
I bought some edelbrock upper adjustable ones, they put them on, and guess what ...it still wheel hops
It did get better though, it now hops instead of jumping...
any thoughts....

Where was the pinion angle before and where is it now?
Do you have a pinion snubber on the car?

I would have to ask the shop for the specific numbers, and is a pinon snubbubber that peice that hangs off the front of the rear? if so yes

Do you have frame connectors? Have you looked into getting a pair of south side traction bars? THOSE WORK!!!

Do you have the quad shocks on and or traction bars (aka) slap bars on or any type of traction bars. That will help alot. David

no, i do not have the quad shocks (yet)
i just need to figure out where to weld the brackets on so they will work

i was just thinkin, if the back suspention is out of alignment (like it was wrecked and fixed half assed) that it could cause this wheel hop. My car was never severely wrecked (to my knowledge) and nothing looks unordinary back there...I was just wonderin...
and yes, my car has subframe connectors...
i thought quad shocks were garbage, I always hear about how people rip them off to fit bigger tires and such, and they don't have this terrible wheel hop...

Quad shock will really help.
South sides will seem like they hook real good off the line, but they really lift the car @60 foot mark and unloads the tires.
3 degress pinion down angle is what you are looking for.

I used a set of the southside bars on my old 74 nova SS. 383 stroker, 4:11's, race tranny, nitrose, ect... with those traction bars and some BF goodwrench comp T/S drag radials I had almost zero wheel hop and with the right tire pressure only spun about 4ft. low 12's high 11's with the juice. I highly recommend the traction bars and the tires. Should fix you right up and the traction bars aren't that expensive.

I also recommend putting on a good set of quad shocks. They are not garbage, they do work!!

The pinion snubber is attached to the underside of the floorpan directly over the flange where the driveshaft attaches. It looks similar to a bump stop used on the rears of pickup truck frame rails. They were factory issue on some cars but I don't remember which. Here's one from Competition Engineering:

The quad shocks were a compromise by Ford. Polyurethane bushings are expensive and harsh compared to rubber bushings. So Ford used the quad shock setup to keep the ride quality decent but still control wheel hop. If you run an aftermarket control arm, they normally use a solid or polyurethane bushing so their stiffer and there isn't any wheel hop. Generally, the quads will help wheel hop but shouldn't be needed when using good arms and bushings.
With subframe connectors and aftermarket uppers and lowers, there's something not aligned. Check the pinion angle and make sure that the rear end is in square. Also, check all the hard attachment points for any signs of cracks where something might be moving around.

all of the bushings are new, and it has new shocks, gt springs, all of the grease points are greased, and the pinon angle is correct...im going to try the quad shocks, but if that doesn't get it, where can i get the traction bars everyone is speechin bout?

your talking about something that lifts up and presses against the bottom of the car right...If so, i haven't seen them for a 79-93 mustang...
if your talking about upper and lower control arms, i have a good set of both...
sorry if im confused, but i don't know what else to do..
thanks

Traction bars are something from the 70's and 80's. They may work good on the older cars but with the Mustang and todays technology in bushings and control arms, thats the way to go.
try the quad shocks :)

I also heard traction bars are real rough on the car. I agree with the previous poster put the quad shocks bad on. Hell, it can't hurt, if it still doesn't help, then keep looking.

First beef up your weak torque boxes (like with Battle Boxes or something like them)...Southside Machine lift bars are AWESOME for hop-free traction, so are HP Motorsports Mega-Bite JR's, & any other type of weight-jacker control arm. It can throw off your handling a bit from what your used to based on the design, but you probably won't notice any detrimental effects, except they're ALL (even stock) hard on the torque boxes. Personally, I love Maximum Motorsports' control arms, but they're expensive...even Steeda wound up copyinging their design (see newer MM&FF magazine ads) except Steeda also has them made from aluminum for weight savings. I have had wheel hop even with quad shocks in my 90GT-none with new control arms though!

You must be lucky matt. I finally got to drive my vert again, after the 3.73 gear install, the pro3i lower control arm install (identical, almost max motorsport knockoffs) cobra uppers, and alum driveshaft.
There are Definetly points where I get wheel hop, oh well. I'm putting the quad shocks back on, will see if that fixes it.
