I think your best bet is to take your VIN to a ford/mercury dealership. They can run your VIN.

I also saw a site that had a key for the VIN's, I'll look around and see if I can find it again.

Since the Capri line was started at 600,000 on the Vin#'s,yours is #6,868 in '84

Surprisingly,all your info is very close to mine,an '86.This info was taken right from my '999' history report from Ford,although I had seen other reference to this info,like in service manuals,and is accurate.Sometimes ,the 999's aren't exactly correct.

Hey guys thanks. There is a '92 Ford Motorsport block in my car and everything else is aftermarket. Just wanted to make sure that it was a 5.0 car from the start.
