has anyone ever done anything different with the little side slit/louver things behind the quarter glass? ive seen them painted black to contrast, black to match the trim, and painted matching body colors, but ive never seen any that were chromed, or billet, or anything like that. i saw one car, in particular, where the guy had 'glassed them smooth, and blended them into the body. it looked odd. not bad, just odd. they seem to get replaced with 86 and up quarter glass, too.
what are your opinions on mods to these things, and why?
thanks in advance for the input, and as always, later, gents.

The SVO sail panel is wild enough for me.

Does that sail panel go over the stock panel or is it a replacement?

It is a replacement.
It's easy to do. The worst part is all the dust behind the interior panel :P

When I was 16 I painted my '80 notch's blk and it looked good. Since then I have left things the way they were. I guess I like originalty to a degree. I've always felt the capri sail panels would look nice on a mustang, but I would feel like Young Frankenstein by doing so. Something that is popular is to replace the window and sail panel with late model 1/4 glass like the 87-93. It isn't for me, but it looks fine. Just my two cents... :D

There is a '86 GT around here that has what looks to be the owners take on the SVO panels, instead of a recessed section it sticks out and looks to be functional scoops. Looks pretty good IMO. See it every once and awhile but never have been able to talk to the owner. :x
As for the ppl that put on the full glass quarters, why put in more glass when you can't see any more than the early style?

I hope you weren't serious about chroming the sail panels. That was a joke right? Something like that makes it sound like you want to rice out a 4eye, noooooooooooooooooooooo!
lol, I also like the sail panels from the SVO's if you can find them at a descent price. 8)

I put Capri sail panels on my Mustang, Painted them black, with the sunken parts body colored (in my case red). IMO it looks better than the original Mustang ones.

id like to thank you all for the input. the chrome thing was not to be taken seriously, the more i think about that visual, the more god-awful it seems. the side scoop thing was an interesting note, as was the two-color scheme. and the svo sail really looks good. later, gents.
