79-82 Capri Tail

Are there any companies that sell '79-82 Capri lights? I have a set on my '79 Stang Notch and would like to freshen them up when I resto it.

The only source for Capri-specific parts at this time is the occasional NOS part on Ebay or at swaps or finding them at junkyards. No one is reproducing or stocking any Capri-specific parts as far as we've found. :(

That stinks! I really like the look of the lights from that era. Maybe I can clean up the ones I have. I really don't want to go with the "late model" look, everyone has done it :)

I actually used some Turtle Wax Paint polish (in the white can) with a rag on the side rear reflectors when I pulled them from my Capri and they cleaned/shined them up really well. Probably any light polish will do ok, just don't get anything terribly abrassive.

After you do it, you may need to paint the trim on the lights again.

What do the '79-'82 Capri taillights look like? Does anyone have a picture? I'm trying to remember waaaaaay back to that era (I was around 14). If I'm not mistaken, I think that I remember them as being the same as the '79-'82 Mustangs, but I'm not too sure. My memory sometimes fails me! :roll:

An idea just hit me. Why not check out Skye's picture gallery. Well, I did, and wouldn't you know it, my memory was jogged. :roll: Now I remember what they look like.

meguiars( www.meguiars.com) makes a specific plastic polish pn#G12310 for cleaning up the lenses use a dremel with a polishing wheel, then put thin masking tape on the lens part and lightly sand the louvers. then prime and paint with plastic specific paint (important for longevity) trust me you only want to do this once!
