I need to have my 1985 Capri painted and want to be certain that the colors used are correct. It is the red with an orangish hue to it (could it be tamale red?) and it has the grey lower body. Does anyone know either the correct names and codes for these colors, or where I could dig up this information? Thanks.

There are 2 reds with the Dark Charcoal Two Tone....
I'm looking at an original "1985 Mercury Color and Upholstery Specification" dealer's book:
Medium Canyon Red: 2A
Bright Red: 2R
Dark Charcoal: DC
DC isn't really a paint number I think...but there is a "Dark Charcoal" in the LINCOLN line that is coded 1Y. I do believe that this is correct for the bottom color of your two tone. The trim may be the same (unless its supposed to be chrome?) (its supposed to be a dark charcoal too) but I think it is a more satin finish.

oh... I think you can find the actual paint here:
http://autocolorlibrary.com
You can search for any make/model with the chips. Your color looks like it would be the "Bright Red"

What's kind of odd is that the Dealer book I have, has your color listed for the Capri (Bright Red) in the color chip section but the paint sample pages do not have the Capri listed as a car for that color.

Well, here is the book:
http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Literature/Literature.htm
Click on the color book links.
#8 #11 #12 all say Bright red.
There is not a single mention for Jalepena red anywhere.
This book says it was up to date as of Jan 15 1985.
However, on the same page above click #1 on the BigA paint chips and you see "Jalepena" red and nowhere is there a "Bright red. Jalepena red is possibly the same color. It looks VERY close.

I'm blind. Yes, they are the same color. Look at the Mercury Color book and it says:
Bright Red = 2R
Then the Big A book says:
Jalapena Red = 2R
I bet someone made up a nickname, everybody called it that and Ford just decided to use it since it probably sold better.
Was this color in 1986? I bet the 1986 book may have the name change.
