I am looking to repaint my entire car and I want to remove all the old paint layers. I was told to "sand" blast it with pellets, the put a protective layer on it before repainting it. Does anyone know someplace around Maryland that does this and about how much it costs?

Sandblasting, if you don't have your own, can be expensive but its fast. I used elbow grease, 120 grit paper, a rotary sander and a grinder. It took about 24 hours.

What you want is media blasting not sand it would be to course for you car it would do some damage at minimum. Media blasting ( types are walnut shells, plastic media these are some.) will remove the paint also you can leave the glass in with media. Best way to find someone would be to check with some quality body shops in your area. Good Luck

Yes just blasting it with sand is a bad idea..
Sand blasting creates a lot of heat, and panel warpage. as was metioned by Capri have it media blasted, and I would say if a shop says they will sand blast it, run away from them and do not look back..

Grey85CapriGS, you mentioned you sanded your car, did you do the paintwork yourself, or where did you get it done?
