I was in a junkyard today and scored some NOS parts. I got a door moulding for a Mustang. It is black with two light blue stripes in the center. Does anyone know what years had mouldings with blue stripes? I also scored a NOS red scuff plate for the door jamb. I love junkyard hunting. :D Thanks.

I think you're confusing NOS, with OEM. NOS means "new old stock". If you pulled these off a car they can't be NOS.
I know that stripped mouldings were available from at least '79-'83. I'm not sure if they came on '84's or not.
I've seem them in orange, blue, white, gold for sure, and I think I remember seeing green, and red also.

Caprisvo is right about all of the years and colors. I am also unsure of the '84's. I do have pictures of a 1979 Cobra that is Silver/Black and it has the twin blue stripes. In my 1979 Mustang sales brochure, it states that the twin stripes are generally color coded to match the interior color. However, this can't always be true, as my interior is black, and my stripes were orange. It's good that your saving these pieces, as you can't find them on the reproduction market yet.

Thanks for the replies. The mouldings were still in the packages being stored in a bus. There were dozens of Ford packages in the bus but only two were for Mustangs. I don't need them, but will put them in stock with the other NOS parts.

Wow......ask 'em how much they want for the bus/contents!

I didn't see any Capri parts. The third digit of the part number is R?(ie. E4RZ-6049-ac) I looked at all the packages and part numbers, but didn't see any. Most of the stuff was full size Ford and Thunderbird. Does anyone know what a third digit of 3 means? There was a seatback there that was a E43?-????-??. It looked like a Mustang seatback, but should of been a E4ZZ part number. Right? Thanks.

Alot of the Capri specific parts have a 3rd letter of'C'.
According to the scanned parts sheet that Skye posted in November(THANKS SKYE!) the moulding piece that I need is
E5CY-6129038-9ap
I know this does not look like the regular part # format, but thats what the parts sheet said..It is a hard plastic moulded piece, with a hole for the rear marker lamp. Its different than the 83/84 because the profile of the trim is smooth/rounded..not squared off.

Didn't see that moulding or any numbers with "C" as a third digit. The other mouldings were mostly chrome/stainless. I'll keep an eye out for Capris locally. There are too many around here though.

In my previous post, I stated that I did not know about the '84 models having this same molding with the dual stripes. After some research, I've found out that they did in fact have it.
