Hi Everyone,

Great site!! It's nice to know that there is a community that fancies the "four-eyes" as much as me. :)

Santa brought me an 86 GT a week early! :D Right now, she sits in a lovely shade of grey primer. After looking the car over, I can see the original color was a red of some sort. So, I decoded the door tag and found a paint code of "2A" which turns out to be Medium Canyon Red Metallic. Is this the regular red or the burgandy/maroon color? Thanks for the info!

Canyon is the maroonish colour where the Jalapena/Bright (2R...what I have) is the almost orangy red. Gonna take it back to stock or are you thinking of doing a colour change?

And how'd you talk Santa into a car? I could use another. Well, okay, I have nowhere to put it currently, but that could be dealt with...

Wouldn't that be cool? Driving around Texas and seeing a fat man in a red suit on a roof trying to stuff a Mustang down the chimney?

Personally, I like the factory reds more on the Capris than the Mustangs.

Santa (read: wife) was easily swayed when she saw the price of $600 for a running, driving 86. All it needs is decent seats, some basic maintenance, a fuel pump, and a paint job. Pretty good deal!!

As far as the color goes, I am still on the fence about going back to stock. I am not terribly fond of the maroon color. My favorite is the white w/ the charcoal lower. A friend of mine in high school got one of these brand new, and it was slick!! I need to fix the mechanical stuff first, so I have time to decide! :)

Thanks for the info!!

look over the body real well before laying paint, primer hides a lot of dings and dents...

Thanks for the advice. :) I will probably just have it done right at a quality shop. Strip the panels, fix any dents/dings/issues, then a top notch finish. I am guessing about $2500-3000. Time to start saving some pennies!
