Hey Guys,

I'm putting an '82 GT scoop on my 86, and I've encountered a few problems. First of all, the scoop is made for a different hood, the flatter one on 79-82s. I can get by this with some creative body filler, but one thing I'm having trouble with is the mounting holes in the scoop. The threads are completely stripped and I'm wondering what I can do about anchoring that thing on my hood. Can I tap fiberglass without the hole cracking? Would I use traditional tapping oil? Or would some kind of metal anchor epoxy'd into the holes make more sense? I need it to be solid since I'm making the scoop functional, and the last thing I need is for it to blow off at 90 mph.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Use a two part epoxy on the screw parts of the original mounting bolts.
It'll be stronger than new.

I would like to know of any fitment problems because I'm looking to do the same to my 86. Evlgt85 looks like its one on it's hood.

That scoop should just bolt right on, with some minor sanding. You shouldn't need any filler at all to "conform" it to fit the hood. Also, the epoxy is a very good idea to fix any stripped studs. Good luck.
