well lets see here- im reading this code by a chilton's manual so here it goes- 1me is the manufacturer code. b is belts. the p is constant. 67 is the line, series, body type. d is for 4.2l 255 engine, 4 is a check digit, c is for the year (1982), f is the assembly plant. the last 6 digits are the production number your capri was #29,793 to come out of the factory that year.

Are you sure it isnt 529793th car? I think you missed a number and they started at 100001

capris started at 600,000. mustangs started at 100,000. they only made 36,134 capris in '82. i have an 86 capri and my vin ends with 610067. my car was built in january of 86 which puts it about mid production. there were 20,332 capris built in 86. if you drop the 6, that means my car was #10067. which is about right considering when it was built. im pretty sure of this.
